Having been living with a damp basement for some time, this Aurora, ME homeowner thought it was time they did something about the water below their home. As soon as our crew arrived at the home, their first task was to install a SuperSump pump system in the floor of the basement. This device will take in the water flooding the space, forcing it up and out of the home at a rater of over 2,600 gallons per hour. The water flows away from the home through a PVC discharge line. Outside the home, two additions were attached to this line to improve the waterproofing of the basement. The first was an IceGuard pipe segment added just beyond where the line leaves the home. This piece has upward facing holes built into the sides that allow for water blocked by ice or debris to escape without backing up into the home. Finally, the end of the line received a LawnScape discharge port. The end of this piece is covered by a grate that will release the water onto the ground to harmlessly drain away while keeping out larger debris.

We started by digging up a trench around the inside perimeter of the basement floor. This made way for us to lay down a WaterGuard pipe system. This is then covered over with loose rocks and concrete to conceal it within the floor while not hindering functionality. The WaterGuard system captures water as it enters the basement through the walls or floor. Next, we started fixing the cracks with FlexiSpan. We applied the first layer of sealant directly to the cracks, this is the primary barrier against moisture entering the cracks. The sealant is then covered with a foam matting. This gives the FlexiSpan its flexible nature. Finally, a second layer of sealant is added over the foam to hold it all in place, locking any moisture completely outside the crack. Now Bruce can live without fear of water damage in his basement!
