Homeowners were looking for a more permanent solution for a small dirt crawlspace covered by a tarp. They dealt with a lot of moisture in the crawl space and they knew it was effecting the overall health of their home. TC Hafford came in and installed a CleanSpace Vapor Barrier, a specially designed liner that keeps out pests, humidity, and most importantly moisture.

These homeowners now have peace of mind.

With water gathering in puddles on their basement floor, this Berwick, ME homeowner needed something to keep the water out. After searching online for a solution, they called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems to see if we could solve their problem. After speaking with our sales representative during their sales estimate, we were given the green light to get started on a WaterGuard & SuperSump installation. Once our crew arrived at the home, they got started on the floor by excavating the perimeter. This allowed for the WaterGuard piping to be laid around the basement floor, just below the surface. Sealed below a fresh layer of concrete, the WaterGuard will absorb any water as it leaks in through the foundation in the future. The water enters through small slits along the lower edge of the pipes and is guided directly into the SuperSump pump installed in the floor as well. The SuperSump can handle up to 2,650 gallons of water per hour, pumping it out of the home through a PVC discharge line. Finally, outside the home, IceGuard & LawnScape pipe segments were attached to the discharge line to provide additional protection against flooding. The LawnScape section covers the end with a grate to keep debris from entering the line while the IceGuard allows a way for any water blocked by ice to escape without backing up into the home.

With a permanent waterproofing solution in place, this homeowner no longer needs to suffer from a flooding basement! The WaterGuard piping along with the SuperSump pump will maintain a dry basement floor for this homeowner for years into the future.

Job Stories From Berwick, ME
Wet Basement in Berwick, ME, Revitalized With New System

In Berwick, Maine, Andrea had an existing sump pump and dehumidifier, but still experienced a wet basement whenever it rained. After searching online for a solution, Andrea came to us. Once our representative Mike Morin took a look, a team was sent out to get to work.

TC Hafford started by installing a WaterGuard basement waterproofing system around the perimeter of the basement. This system is used to collect any water that might attempt to flow into the basement through the walls or up through the floor. This WaterGuard system was then connected through to a newly installed SuperSump sump pump, which replaced the old sump. This new sump pump pumps any water fed into it to the outside. Finally, the crew used an IceGuard pipe outside the house to prevent the water from being blocked. The IceGuard is a special piece of pipe that allows water to flow even when the rest of the pipe is blocked off by ice or other debris. After finishing these additions to the basement, Andrea now no longer has to worry about water in the slightest.

Our sump pump and the pipe that takes the water out aren't working like it should. We've had a few mild flooding situations due to the pump not kicking on. The previous owners of our house had rigged the sump pump piping with thick cord wrapped around the joists/beams, but I don't think it helps carry excess water out as well as it should, especially when it rains really hard or when snow melts. We'd like to get this fixed to avoid future flooding. Thank you!

Hello, I am looking to have someone help fix our sinking front steps. Is this something you would be able to help with? Thanks for any information you can provide!
Project Location: Berwick, ME
Hi, I am in the process of buying the house at the above address and during the inspection a vertical crack in the foundation wall was found. It goes from top to bottom, about 8 feet, it is very thin/fine, and at about the mid point of the wall water is leaking into the basement (small slow leak). The house was built in 2004. I am looking for a quote to use during negotiations and to get it fixed. Thank you.

I have a very small amount of water seeping into my basement. It is coming from where the plywood meets the cement wall. The water does not run down the wall, but it seems to have affected the very bottom of the plywood (where it meets the wall). A friend thinks that the dirt level next to the house may be too close to the top of the cement. It is only doing this in one small area along the back wall that I can tell. I would like to find a good option to permanently fix this and prevent any further damage. I have a couple pictures of what I discovered if that is helpful. Thank you, Sarah

Basement water issues.....sump pump installation?
Project Location: Berwick, ME
I have a drain system installed inside the basement. It goes completely around the floor. It was filled with crushed rock but never capped. I feel like this is a major cause of the humidity problem that we have. I'd like to know what it would cost to cap the drain.
