Bowdoinham, ME, Sump Pump Replaced With SuperSump

A resident of Bowdoinham was experiencing issues with their sump system. It wasn’t pumping enough water out of the basement like it should have been. This was an immediate concern for the homeowner because now their basement was flooding. After seeing an ad on their television, TC Hafford got the call. After discussing options with the homeowner, we had a crew head out and get to work.

We started by pulling out the old pump, it needed to be replaced to make sure water would be evacuated properly. Once the old pump was removed, a SuperSump sump pump was installed. This will now keep all the water pumped up and out of the basement. Finally, an UltraSump backup battery was attached to guarantee the SuperSump stays functional even if the power goes out in the home. This homeowner now no longer needs to worry about a wet basement.

Basement leaks in many places. Cracks in concrete part of foundation. Holes in old stone portion. I'd be surprised if there weren't mold problems also. Sump pump works fine but water doesn't always get to it.

Dunn Farm Lane in Bowdoinham
We live in an old farm house that we are fixing up. The basement used to be partially dirt floor, but a couple years ago a concrete floor was installed. Last winter I noticed that sometimes when the forced air furnace runs, there is a dank, organic "basement" stink that is blown through the house. We thought is was coming from the old heating system we had. This past summer we installed a new furnace and all new ductwork. Now that the heat is running again I notice we are still getting the "basement" smell blown into the house. We were told the duct work is sealed, but some how the smells are still getting into the house. DO we need to seal the basement from the rest of the house with a vapor barrier to keep his from happening? I would like to talk with someone about what is causing this and possible solutions. Thanks!

Basement of 1820's house. Natural stone three walls with one cinder block wall. Has history of well in center of basement, water comes in through stone walls and from feed pipes into sump pump hole. Help.
Center St in Bowdoinham
House is 1835, dirt floor basement, room to stand up. Water appears to seep up from the ground and some through the walls, although mostly from the ground. Primary goal is to block water/preserve house, don't really care about making the basement useful space although that would be a bonus.
Ridge Rd in Bowdoinham
Hello, you installed a SuperSump system in our basement this winter. Unfortunately within weeks, there was a power outage and the basement flooded. Can the SuperSump be easily upgraded to an UltraSump battery backed system? How much would that cost? Thanks, -Mike

I have a Ranch style house with a basement that has block walls. The house is approx 45 years old. I don't want to make it a livable space I just want it to stay dry.
