Living with an old sump, this Freeport, ME homeowner thought it was time they replaced it with a more powerful pump. Shortly after they contacted us at TC Hafford Basement Systems, our sales representative met with the homeowner to go over their options and give them a free estimate. The homeowner soon gave us the green light to begin work on upgrading their old sump! As soon as our installation crew made it out to the home, they began by removing the old pump and digging out the sump to make room for the larger SuperSump. With the SuperSump installed, any water leaking into the basement in the future will be forced out of the home through the PVC discharge line. Outside the home, an IceGuard pipe section along with a LawnScape discharge port were attached to this line. The IceGuard provides protection against ice or other blockages in the line by allowing any trapped water angled holes to escape through before it can reach the basement again to cause flooding. The LawnScape port on the end of the line provides a grate to hold back leaves or other debris that could block the line over time.

With these upgrades in place below their home, this homeowner can now rely on their sump to handle water removal without needing to manually assist. The new SuperSump pump will keep this basement water-free for the future!

Flooding Crawlspace In Freeport, ME Properly Waterproofed With CleanSpace

A homeowner in Freeport was in the market for a vapor barrier for their crawlspace. They had never had one properly installed, and with a dirt crawlspace, would routinely have water flood the space. Soon after they started their search for a vapor barrier, the homeowner received a letter advertising TC Hafford Basement Systems. They researched our company, and gave us the call. We had a representative investigate the crawlspace, and then we got to work!

We began by installing a SmartSump in the floor of the crawlspace, where the most water collected. This sump will evacuate the water gathering in this point of the crawlspace through a PVC discharge line. We then lined the inside perimeter of the wall/floor joint with a Drainage Matting. This mat will reduce the amount of water entering the interior of the crawlspace. Finally, we encapsulated the crawlspace with a CleanSpace liner. This liner covers all of the surfaces that water normally enters through. Being made of plastic, water will never pierce the CleanSpace. Maintaining a dry crawlspace atmosphere for many years to come. This finished the homeowners new vapor barrier. Keeping their originally dirt crawlspace dry by keeping the water out!

My partner and I have recently bought a home, which is quite old and has a basement that is very wet.
