Years ago the drainage system around our foundation failed when we had 9" of rain in two days. We ended up having a sump pump out in, a rough installation but it has served us well. Now we are going through that pump failing on occasion, sometimes of course when power goes out if we're not home and generator isn't running, fails at other times possibly overworked, often and not being able to stay on top of water in the winter spring and of course with this recent heavy rain. I think we're looking for a new pump installation, and drainage line dug to get water away from the foundation.
