Polyurethane Injection Prevents Jonespost, ME Basement From Flooding

A couple in Jonesport were having trouble with a crack in the wall of their foundation. This crack was letting in enough water during rain to flood the basement with several inches of water. Seeking immediate assistance with this crack, the homeowners searched online. This is where they found TC Hafford Basement Systems. They called us right away, and we dispatched a representative to give them their free estimate. After the meeting, we sent in our crew and got to work!

To prevent further flooding within the basemen, we needed to seal the crack. To do this, we laid sealant over the top of the crack. Placing “plugs” every foot or so going up the crack. These plugs are hollow, allowing us to use them as a pathway for an injection. Once the sealant set, we began to inject the Polyurethane in through the plugs. The Polyurethane filled the crack, spreading into even the smallest crevasses. After letting the Polyurethane sit, it hardened within the crack, forming an impenetrable wall that water would no longer be able to pass through.

With this new seal over the crack, a flooding basement is now a thing of the past for these homeowners.

Repair of basement of old (100-150 year old) farmhouse. Basement floor is dirt, half of house is a crawlspace and the other half is about 6' deep. Walls in crawlspace portion are stone block, walls in 6' deep portion are quarried stone. Water is getting in and eroding a portion of the quarried stone wall -- would need some kind of water mitigation effort. Also, we would like to steady and improve the quarried stone walls, reinforce them with some kind of shotcrete or cement. And, if possible, deepen the crawlspace area and give it a concrete floor to help keep it dry and stable. The quarried stone portion is probably 12x16 and the block wall (crawlspace) portion is probably 16x32, and they join to form an L shape. I'd like some kind of ballpark idea of what this sort of repair costs to undertake, with the understanding that you'd really need to see it to be certain. If you also do spray-foam insulation, that would probably also be useful. Email is best means of communication.
