The dirt floors allowed water to easily seep in, and over time that moisture can cause big problems, like wood rot or mold. Mark proposed encapsulating the space with drainage matting and CleanSpace vapor barrier to seal moisture out. We also installed a SaniDry Sedona high efficiency air system, which controls the humidity to a healthy level, removing over 100 pints of water from the air per day!

Upon starting work in the crawlspace, our crew first installed a proper vapor barrier to keep most of the moisture from entering the space to begin with. This barrier was composed of a Drainage Matting to allow the water to easily flow back out of the crawlspace as well as a CleanSpace liner to lock the moisture on the exterior of the new barrier. Atop this liner, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed. This device will pull in the damp air still within the crawlspace and separate any moisture from it. The now-dry air is circulated back throughout the crawlspace while the collected water is forced out of the home through a pump.

To start, we laid a Drainage Matting around the interior perimeter of the crawlspace. This prevents the water coming in from finding its way to the center of the crawlspace where it can cause damage or start to smell. Next, we covered the crawlspace walls and floor with a CleanSpace Liner. This liner holds back any moisture trying to enter the crawlspace through the walls or floor. Finally, we installed a SaniDry CX Dehumidifier. This will maintain a completely dry atmosphere within the crawlspace, even if a small amount of moisture were to make it into the air. Now, with a dry crawlspace, this homeowner no longer has a smell bothering him!
