Job Stories From Belfast, ME
Wet Crawlspace In Belfast, ME Sealed With CleanSpace

A homeowner in Belfast noticed a smell coming from their crawlspace. This smell was being created by mold growing on the walls. This was due to a high moisture content in the air of the crawlspace. Looking for professional help, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems. We had a representative sent to the home to inspect the basement and give the homeowner their free estimate. They decided on what work they wanted done and we got started.

To eliminate the moisture entering the basement, we encapsulated the interior with a CleanSpace Liner. This liner is made of a solid plastic, able to hold back any water trying to find its way to the interior of the crawlspace. We then installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier in the crawlspace. This dehumidifier will take in the moisture from the air, dry it out, and push it out into the further reaches of the crawlspace. This forces more moist air back toward the dehumidifier, creating a cycle of drying air. With these two systems working together, the moisture from the crawlspace has been completely eliminated, along with the proper atmosphere for mold growth. This homeowner should no longer experience a smell coming from their crawlspace.

We have a 200 year old home with a mix of cement floors, dirt and stone flooring. The walls are mostly stone with one area cement blocks. The humidity level is about 80% - 90% even with the basement door open. I tried running two dehumidifiers but had no luck dropping the humidity below 80%. I put foam insulation in the ceiling to create a tighter seal while running the dehumidifiers and still no luck. The best I did this summer was to open the front door and the usual windows; the humidity dropped below 70% for the first time since I bought the house 5 years ago.

Greetings, I have a 1960's ranch style house. We are at the top of the hill that slopes down towards the town area. There is water, for about a month or so, coming into the basement and flows down to the drain in the center of the basement. The water comes in at the base where the wall meeting the floor. This water seepage in the basement is located at the front middle of the house. There is general water leakage when it rains through several areas of the basement. This major leak is enough water and continuous that is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep. It does not flow fast. It leaks whether it rains or not. Unable to determine the source of this water leakage, but it needs to be corrected. Would appreciate an evaluation to determine the problem and an estimate to have it corrected. I'm not sure if it is needing basement repair and/or basement waterprofing. Thank you. Look forward to hearing from you.
