Moving into a home with no prior moisture protection in the basement, this homeowner needed a way to keep water from leaking into their new home in the future. Our team at TC Hafford Basement Systems was able to provide a solution to this problem with a WaterGuard piping installation around the basement perimeter. The buried WaterGuard system captures moisture as it leaks in towards the interior. With a new SuperSump pump installed, the WaterGuard is able to remove the collected water from the basement by passing it through the sump. Finally, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the interior walls of the basement and Spray Foam was used to fill gaps in the joists above the space. This provides one final layer of defense against the elements; with the CleanSpace holding back any moisture that may enter through the walls as the Spray Foam provides improved heating/cooling efficiency for the homeowner.

With these new installations, this homeowner can now rest assured their new basement won’t be susceptible to flooding and moisture damage. The WaterGuard system will keep this basement water-free for years to come!

Job Stories From Lincoln, ME
Lincoln, ME Home Waterproofed Properly with WaterGuard Installation

A homeowner living in Lincoln, ME owned a basement which would take on water during rainfall. Unable to locate the source of the leak, they thought it would be best to have the space professionally waterproofed. After a quick Google search, they found TC Hafford Basement Systems and gave us a call to get the job done!

As soon as our installation crew got to the home they began work. To prevent water from entering the space through the surrounding concrete, WaterGuard piping needed to be installed. After excavating a trench around the perimeter of the floor, the pipes were buried beneath a fresh layer of concrete. The WaterGuard pipes within the floor will now capture any water entering through the floor and guide it directly to the sump to be removed.

Within the sump, a SuperSump sump pump was placed to force the water up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump can handle up to 2,650 gallons of water per hour, plenty of power to keep this basement water-free. Outside the home, two additions were attached to the discharge line. The first addition was an IceGuard pipe section placerd just outside the home. This piece of piping has special angled holes built into it, which allow for water blocked by ice or debris to exit without backing up the line. Finally, a LawnScape discharge port was used to end the line, where the water will drain away into the ground.

With their newly waterproofed basement, this homeowner can now use the space without worrying about water damage to their property. The WaterGuard system will keep this baseemnt dry for years to come!

Project Location: Lincoln, ME
I have a finished daylight basement that I occasionally get water in that goes into furnace room or under the tile. first time it happened was the 2nd day after I purchased the house. the seller said they had the house over a year and never got water. I removed the carpet and could see that the water seems to be coming in from the wall. I assumed it was a one time thing so put tile down on the floor. However over the last 4 years I get water occasionally now and I'm getting a smell in the house that I think is mold behind the sheet rock. I want to fix the water coming in, clean up the mold if it is there. Do I need to have the sheet rock taken down in the area I think the leak is in for you to check it out or do you do that?
