Portland, ME Basement Receives Much Needed Sump Upgrade

Portland, ME Basement Receives Much Needed Sump Upgrade Portland, ME Basement Receives Much Needed Sump Upgrade

After living in their Portland, ME home for three years, this homeowner decided it was time they upgraded from the small sump they got from a hardware store when they moved in. Our crew got to work on their basement by rounding out the existing sump hole and installing a SuperSump system in the floor. This new pump will output at a rate of over 2,600 gallons of water per hour. This water exits the basement through a PVC discharge line where it passes through an IceGuard pipe segment on the exterior of the home. Now the homeowner can be sure their sump will keep their basement floor dry during exceptionally heavy rainfall.

Expert Gutter Installation in Portland

Without properly maintained gutters, gutter guards, and downspouts rainwater can damage your home’s siding, exterior doors and windows, landscaping, and foundation. This is why every home needs to combat destructive rainwater intrusion with a set of sturdy and properly installed gutters and downspouts.

When the rains come, gutters and downspouts will safely collect and direct the water off of your roof and away from your home. This prevents erosion, flooding, and expensive landscaping damage. Job Stories From Portland, ME
SaniDry Protects Portland, ME Basement From Mold Growth

Nancy from Portland had started to notice a musty smell emitting from her basement. This was being caused by very moist air. The smell could also be an indication of mold growth in the basement. Seeking professional assistance with this moisture problem, Nancy contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems. We had a representative at the home shortly after to give the homeowner her free estimate. She selected what she wanted done, and our crew started working.

To remove the moisture from the basement air, and keep the air dry, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. This dehumidifier takes in the moist air immediately surrounding itself, dries it out, and then pushes it out into the basement. The pressure created by this pulls in more moist air, allowing the process to continue until all of the air within the basement is dry and healthy. This will not only kill off any mold starting to grow, but it will prevent it from spreading, or re-growing in the future. Now Nancy has clean, dry air in her basement, and no need to worry about a musty smell, or mold growth!

Hello. I recently bought a new home and the inspection raised a couple of concerns. I have a crawlspace under an addition that the inspector recommended have a vapor barrier installed underneath and spray foam applied under the floor where the fiberglass insulation is loose.

Project Location: Portland, ME
Been in our house 12 years. No problems until October 2021, following that unusual 6+ inches of rain storm. Had 1-inch of water in the basement. Called an emergency service to remove the wood flooring, dry it out, and the belief was the water had come up through a corner drain that is also connected to the house's exterior french drain system. We had the trap cover resealed. Also had the root-rooter guys come out and snake the line to the street to ensure there are not roots. Nothing found, so the line to the street is fine. No other problems until i went down there today to find an inch of water again. (we had a big rain about a week ago and checked the day after and it was dry). No clue where it is coming from - there are no signs of cracks in the concrete. the water is clear and odorless, so it does not appear to be sewage back flow. We'd like you to come take a look to see if we can figure out the source of the issue so we can decide on a plan to fix. (sorry for the long message)

A previous leak in the basement was fixed with a drainage tunnel from about halfway across the back of the house to the back right corner with a sump pump installed, but now the Back left corner of the house also has a leak that happens when the ground is overly saturated

We would love to find out the source of the water that comes into our basement. Not sure if it's through the bulkhead or the foundation. It's not a lot of water by any means... just annoying.

Project Location: Portland, ME
Old fieldstone foundation is in decent shape but there are several holes that leak water through many seasons of the year. In addition to that the floor appears to have been poured on top of the dirt and water seeps up through in several areas. Would like to not have water running across the floor after large storms.

Hi! We'd love to begin the process of finishing our basement. But we want to make sure there's no chance of it getting wet. It's relatively dry, as is. But we do have a couple small problem areas. We'd love a quote for making it totally dry. Thanks so much!

My basement started leaking a couple weeks ago. I have been pumping it out a few times a day. The basement floor is not level and the water pools on the lower side. We are still not 100% sure where the water is coming from. We would like a professional to check it out and give us recommendations and an estimate for possible repairs.

We have noticed some cracking/water damage on a small section of basement wall. The plaster is also chipping off a bit. In another few locations, we have some mold growing on the walls. We are interested in finding out more on taking care of these issues.
Project Location: Portland, ME
I have a "half" finished basement in the house we purchased last summer. I would love to do something with it! Ideally, turn it into a small office/play area/tv area. I say half finished because it has walls & outlets etc, but no ceiling & concrete floor etc. Currently no heating down there (although we may update our ancient furnace soon, so that could change). I can also send pics of the current state if that's easier. From what I can tell, the basement seems dry, but I do have some questions about rim joist insulation/sealing as I do see some white stuff that could be mould? Also, the ceiling is quite low (around 6' 10 from floor to bottom of floor joist maybe?) so I know there may be permit/code implications? I would love to get some expert opinions on what could be done with the space & would greatly appreciate your assistance. Thanks in advance!
