Waterproofing Portland Basement to Prep for Finishing the Space

Challenge

Portland, ME homeowners reached out for help with their wet basement. The home was built in 1967 with a perimeter drain system, however multiple times water had backed up into the basement due to the drain system being clogged from roots. The homeowners want to finish the basement and ensure that it is properly waterproofed and insulated before doing so. 

Solution

System Design Specialist Michael M. met with the homeowners to evaluate their basement. We installed a new perimeter system, WaterGuard, that channels water to a brand new SuperSump Plus system. The SuperSump removes water through an exterior drainage line that we rerouted and placed away from any potential root issues. CleanSpace Wall System was installed on the walls as a vapor barrier to keep moisture out and inhibit mold growth. A SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was also installed to help control the moisture in the air.
