Job Stories From Winthrop, ME
WaterGuard Saves Winthrop, ME Basement From Water Damage

A homeowner in Winthrop had a problem with water leaking into his basement through the walls and floor. This was damaging his belongings he was storing in his basement, and he needed a way to stop the water as soon as possible. The homeowner got online and searched for a way to solve this problem, soon finding TC Hafford Basement Systems and choosing us to get the job done. They gave us a call the next day and we had a representative head to the home to look at the basement and give the homeowner a free estimate on the cost of the solution. We got the green light and began work!

We started the job by digging up the inside perimeter of the basement floor. This gave us a trench to lay down our WaterGuard pipe system. This is a special pipe made to capture water as it tries to enter the basement through the walls or floor, guiding it then to the sump. We then installed a SuperSump sump pump into the sump in the basement. This is where the WaterGuard is leading the water. Once the water reaches the SuperSump, it is pushed up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. This homeowner now can sleep worry free that his belongings are dry and safe in his basement.

Damp Basement in Winthrop, ME, Dried and Sealed

A homeowner in Winthrop had been experiencing issues with a wet basement since they first moved into their house. This wasn’t too big of a problem for the homeowner, until they changed the pitch of their roof. After this, somehow even more water began to enter the basement. This is when, after seeing an ad on TV, the homeowner decided to contact TC Hafford.

We got to work starting by installing a WaterGuard waterproofing system. This is a pipe that encapsulates the interior perimeter of the basement. It sits slightly under the floor, and captures any water entering through either the walls or the floor. We then connected this WaterGuard system to a SuperSump sump pump. This pump takes the water from the basement and pushed it up and out of the basement. On the outside of the house, we finished this project with an IceGuard piece. This section of pipe allows for water to escape the pipe should ice or other debris block the flow further along. These newly implemented systems working together should keep this homeowner happy, and the basement dry.

It's a dirt crawl space basement near water.

We're close to purchasing the house and had the inspection completed last week. We noticed wet water spots over most of the garage floor but not along the perimeter of the wall. There was also a strong smell of mildew in the garage and in the abutting family room. We're wondering if hydrostatic pressure is causing runoff water to seep up through the garage floor. Request your opinion on how to fix this issue.

Hi there, We have a crawl space under one room of our house and there seems to be a mold or mildew problem. I think this may have been a problem for several years but it has been mild enough to not be a health concern. I believe it may be a health concern now. I can't usually smell anything, but my daughter, who is very sensitive, usually can. Ken Brigham, formerly of PuroClean, remediated our attic several years ago, and recommended I contact you regarding the crawl space. I run a daycare in the house so I would love to get an estimate very soon if possible. Thank you!

We recently discovered black mold behind paneling in our basement. Water damage was fixed by previous owners - this appears to be what wasn't removed during demolition. Black mold is on drywall about 1 foot up from the floor. Is this something that you can remove? We run a dehumidifier and are changing constantly. Thank you.

Mold/mildew smell in basement that has no visible water, no visible mold (b/c I cleaned and cleaned after we bought this foreclosed ranch and I ripped out carpets and painted floors with special covering material and even the walls). Running two dehumidifiers 24/7. Hate this house. Help!!!!

I am working with clients that would like an estimate to have work completed in the basement of a home. There are several areas where water is coming in and standing water is present. We believe this may have to do with the slope of the land and the drainage issues surrounding the home. We would like to know how to address this and what it would cost to repair it and prevent this in the future. Please contact me as soon as possible to schedule! I appreciate your time. Thank you, Lori

Our basement was sealed with moisture revisit ant paint about 8 years ago. We do have a French drain. But it is looking a bit shabby and we are interested in figuring out how to make sure it is dry, and perhaps have some sort of panel system installed. We don't want to fully finish the basement but are interested in some sort of middle-ground that will look decent and still read as a basement and not a room. Can you help us?

Vicinity of Memorial Drive in Winthrop
The smell of moisture from the half crawl in basement to the finished walk out basement is strong. Want to make this go away and not have to use a dehumidifier any longer.
