Insulating Winthrop, Maine Crawl Space

This Winthrop, Maine home was built in the 1860's and the crawl space was cold and damp. The homeowners wanted options to insulate the space and also reduce moisture. We installed Spray Foam insulation on the crawl space walls. Spray Foam insulation expands as it is applied, filling in all of the gaps and cracks better than a traditional fiberglass insulation. The foundation was made partially from old stones, so Spray Foam is a great option to fill the nooks and crannies. Spray Foam insulation not only keeps cold air out, but is also a vapor barrier, preventing water from coming into the space.
