Photo Album: Repairing Sagging Floors in Phippsburg, Maine Crawl Space
A Phippsburg, Maine home was built on ledge and had a lot of moisture in the crawl space. The dirt floors easily let groundwater in, and when the moisture stays high in a crawl space it creates big problems like mold, or wood rot. You can see from one before photo that one of their beams was cracked and failing. The homeowners reported the floors in the first floor of the home were sagging. The highest priority for the homeowners was to stabilize and protect the structure and floors. We installed SmartJacks posts with supplemental beams to support the sagging floors. SmartJacks are custom fit and can be adjusted to lift and level the floors above. Each SmartJack can handle 60,000 lbs of load, providing ample support. We have other products, such as our vapor barrier system, that would address the water intrusion when the owners are ready.
