Photo Album: Flooded Crawl Space Encapsulation in Biddeford, Maine

Biddeford, Maine homeowners met with System Design Specialist Jordan to evaluate their crawl space that routinely flooded. Over time, the constant moisture had weakened the wooden support beams of the home, causing the floors above to sag. The owners were also interested in insulating the space as they had dealt with frozen pipes in the past. Foreman Jesus and his crew encapsulated the crawl space with CleanSpace vapor barrier and drainage matting, sealing out the moisture. We installed vent covers to prevent cold air from the outside coming into the crawl space. SmartJacks were added to support and lift the sagging floors, ensuring they would stay structurally sound. Not pictured, we added Spray Foam insulation after the encapsulation to complete the project. Spray Foam improves the energy efficiency of the space, while providing added protection against water and mold.
