Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Installing a Vapor Barrier in Sorrento, Maine

Homeowners in Sorrento, Maine had a damp crawl space and they were looking to add a vapor barrier and dehumidification. We installed our two-step encapsulation system, including a layer of drainage matting to control the groundwater, and then a layer of our CleanSpace vapor barrier. CleanSpace not only seals water out, but it is made of an inorganic material that prevents mold growth in the crawl space. We also installed a TripleSafe sump pump to remove water away from the crawl space. A SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier discharges directly into the TripleSafe, and controls the humidity in the crawl space to a healthy level. Moisture had caused the wooden support beams to be damaged and the floors were sagging. We added SmartJacks, galvanized steel posts, that immediate lift and level the floors and provide proper support. Finally, Spray Foam insulation was installed on the walls and rim joists to create an air tight seal, and improve the energy efficiency in the home.
