York Crawl Space Floods When It Rains
This York, ME, home has a tendency to flood whenever it rains, which has caused the homeowner issues with musty smells from mold. The odor penetrates the floor and leaks into the home, especially during the summer months. Worried about rodents and air quality, the homeowner reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. System Design Specialist Rick Russell worked with the homeowner to design a crawl space encapsulation system that would solve their problems. To fully encapsulate the crawl space and keep moisture and critters out, CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was installed. Drainage Matting is a durable barrier with dimples to help channel water and elevate the CleanSpace, keeping it clean. CleanSpace is a durable, inorganic vapor barrier that gets attached to the walls and seals up the crawl space, keeping moisture out. A SmartSump was installed to capture water and pump it through the new Exterior Buried Discharge line. The Discharge line takes the water far from the home and with the installation of IceGuard, the entire system is protected against ice buildup in the winter. Not only is the homeowner able to enjoy their home with better air quality and without having to worry about water in their crawl space.
WaterGuard Holds Water Back From Bryant Pond, ME Basement
A homeowner in Bryant Pond, Maine was experiencing a moisture problem in their basement. Moisture was coming in through the cement, and leaking into puddles on the basement floor. Fearing water damage to their belongings stored in the basement, the homeowner sought a way to prevent further water build up. They called TC Hafford Basement Systems after seeing us on TV and we had our representative give them a free estimate. They selected what work they wanted done, and we got to work! We got started on the basement by excavating the interior perimeter of the basement floor. This enabled us to lay our WaterGuard pipe system into the new trench in the floor. It was then covered with loose rocks and cement to conceal it without hindering functionality. The WaterGuard collects water as it enters through the cement, preventing it from reaching the interior of the basement. We then installed a SuperSump sump pump in the basement to evacuated the water collected by the WaterGuard. The water exits through a PVC discharge line, which we attached an IceGuard pipe to on the exterior of the home. The IceGuard will allow water to continue to flow from the pipe without problem, should the lower end become blocked by ice or other debris. These new installations will maintain a dry basement for many years to come. This homeowner will no longer fear water damage!
Moisture Problem in Bryant Pond, ME Crawlspace Dried with Vapor Barrier Installation
Living in Bryant Pond, ME, this homeowner had needed crawlspace waterproofing for quite a while. The crawlspace below their home had extensive moisture problems, including visible mold and wood rot. Searching for a solution online, they soon discovered TC Hafford Basement Systems and called us right away. We scheduled a free estimate for them and after they agreed to have the work done, our crew was dispatched to take care of their waterproofing needs. As soon as our crew arrived at the home, they got started right away on clearing some rocks that would prevent the vapor barrier placement. A SmartSump pump was first installed in the floor of the space to force our any water gathering on the floor of the crawlspace. Next, a Drainage Matting was laid across the floor. This mat sits just above the surface of the floor, resting on built in grooves. These grooves create channels between the mat and the floor that guide the blocked water to the sump where it will be removed from the space. To complete the vapor barrier installation, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the interior of the crawlspace. Covering the Drainage Mat as well as the walls of the space. This liner will completely lock out moisture that would have previously entered the space, forcing it to pool up below and flow out of the home through the sump. Finally, a SaniDry CX was installed in the space. This dehumidifier will pull in the damp air from around the space, separating any moisture from it. While the dried air is circulated back into the space, the moisture is passed through a piece of piping to the sump where it will be removed along with the rest of the water. Now that this homeowner has some proper waterproofing in their crawlspace, the side effects of the moisture problem, such as mold and a musty smell, should soon fade away. The new Vapor Barrier will keep this space dry for years to come!
Upgrade From Sand to Slab
Customer in Eustis has been the caretaker for their mom's home. The basement had a sand floor and cinder block foundation walls, which allowed for water to get in and caused constant dampness. The homeowner already had a sump pump in place, but they were interested in finding out options for a slab floor or other drainage. They contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems for help and we got the job done!   Our System Design Specialist implemented a plan to pour a slab with Slab WaterGuard, and the old sump was no longer doing the job, so it was removed and replaced with a brand new SuperSump Plus system. The SuperSump Plus pumps the water through an Exterior Buried Discharge line that takes it far from the home. The Discharge line is protected against ice buildup during the winter months with the installation of IceGuard. Water was leaking in around the perimeter of the basement, so slab WaterGuard was installed to catch the water and channel it to the SuperSump. Now that the basement is waterproofed, the homeowner can relax and enjoy their property.
Leaking Basement In Naples, ME Kept Dry With WaterGuard
A homeowner in Naples was having trouble with water leaking into their basement and crawlspace. They had a sump pump, but it wasn’t able to pump out the water that was on the opposite side of the basement or in the crawlspace. Seeking a solution, the homeowner got online. They soon found TC Hafford Basement Systems, and gave us a call. We dispatched a representative to inspect the home and give a free estimate. Then our crew went in to get to work! We began by digging up the inside perimeter of the basement floor. This allowed us room to lay our WaterGuard system. These are uniquely designed pipes that will capture water as it enters through the walls or floor, guiding it to the sump. The system is then covered over with rocks and cement to conceal it beneath the floor without hindering functionality. We then installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier in the basement. This will take in the moist air, dry it out, and disperse it back out into the basement. This cycles through the air until all of the moisture has been removed, creating a dry atmosphere. Finally, within the crawlspace, we needed to install a proper vapor barrier. We encapsulated the space with a CleanSpace Liner. This liner is made of a thin plastic that completely locks out moisture trying to enter through the surrounding soil. With these systems in place, the homeowner now has a dry, healthy basement to use however he sees fit. He will no longer need to fear any form of water damage.
Moist Crawlspace In Norway, ME Waterproofed Properly With CleanSpace
A homeowner in Norway was having trouble with their vapor barrier in their crawlspace. Water was somehow leaking in through the old vapor barrier. Needing a vapor barrier that wouldn’t leak, the homeowner sought the right company to take care of their needs. They soon saw TC Hafford Basement Systems on their television, and did some research on our company. After their research, they found we were the best choice for the job. They called us the next day to set up a meeting to receive their free estimate. The homeowner decided on what work they wanted done and we got to work! We began by taking out the old vapor barrier. It was serving no purpose, and needed to be disposed of before we could install our own. Next, we laid down a Drainage Matting around the floor/wall joint of the crawlspace. This mat will hold back water trying to enter here, allowing it time to exit back into the surrounding soil before reaching the center of the crawlspace. We then encapsulated the crawlspace with a CleanSpace Liner. This liner is made of a thin plastic that water cannot pass through. Lining the crawlspace with this will completely lock out any moisture trying to reach the interior of the space, forcing it to drain away. These two systems working together will make an impenetrable vapor barrier for this homeowner. They no longer need to worry about their crawlspace gathering moisture.
Wet Basement Gets a New Slab
This Norway, ME, home had water coming up through the floor due to an old and broken slab. The homeowner wanted to be able to use the spay without their belongings getting ruined and water damaging the health of their home. Ready to take care of the issues and regain control of their basement, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems and booked a free estimate. The homeowner worked with System Design Specialist Sam Crowley, who helped them design a waterproofing system with a new concrete slab.   First, the area needed to be waterproofed, so Drainage Matting was laid down on the floor and WaterGuard Perimeter Drain was installed along the walls where needed. Drainage Matting will create an inorganic barrier to protect the new slab, and WaterGuard will collect and channel water to the new TripleSafe Sump Pump. The TripleSafe Sump Pump features two Zoeller sumps and a battery backup to protect the basement from water in cases of heavy rain. The TripleSafe pumps the water out of the basement through a Buried Discharge line that is protected from ice buildup with IceGuard, keeping the system running all year round without issue. CleanSpace Wall System was installed on the basement walls and attached to the WaterGuard to create a barrier and collect any water that may come in.   Next, it was important to take care of some of the structural issues in the basement, so a new Supplemental Beam was installed along with a couple of SmartJacks. SmartJacks are made of galvanized steel and are capable of being adjusted over time as needed to keep the floor above stable and level. Stabilizing the floor above protects the home from long-term damage, saving the homeowner from costly repairs. With the SmartJacks and waterproofing system installed, the basement was ready for the new slab to be poured. Not only does the basement look better than before, but the homeowner is able to use the space however they please without the risk or worry of their belongings being damaged.
Soon to be Finished Basement is Made Water Tight in Rumford, ME
A homeowner in Rumford was thinking of getting his basement finished. After owning the home for 28 years, a new water route nearby seems to be causing water to enter the basement for the first time. His crawlspace was also becoming quite damp, collecting moisture. After seeing our work on a nearby home, he decided to go with TC Hafford to waterproof his basement. For this homeowner’s crawlspace, we used a CleanSpace Liner to seal out any water trying to seep into the area. Then we installed a SmartDrain complete with SmartSump to collect and pump out any water still managing to enter the crawlspace. Work on the basement of the house started with the perimeter being fitted with a WaterGuard system. This system is a set of pipes that will capture any water entering the basement through the walls or floor. We then connected the WaterGuard system to an UltraSump sump pump, which is where the water gets pumped up and out of the basement. Finally, we attached an IceGuard on the exterior of the home. This is a unique pipe designed to allow water to flow even if the pipe gets blocked by Ice. Now this homeowner can finish his basement without ever needing to worry about water leaking in.
WaterGuard Protects Steep Falls, ME Basement From Water Damage
A homeowner in Steep Falls was having trouble with water leaking into her basement through the walls and floor. Fearing water damage, the homeowner searched for a way to prevent more water from entering her basement. She soon called TC Hafford Basement Systems to arrange a meeting with one of our representative and receive their free estimate. The homeowner gave us the green light and we got to work! To begin our work, we dug a trench around the inside perimeter of the basement floor and removed the debris. This new trench allowed us to lay down our WaterGuard pipe system encircling the basement. This system will catch all the water trying to enter the basement through the walls and floor and guide it to the sump. The WaterGuard was then buried under loose rocks and cement to hide it without hindering its capabilities. We then installed a SuperSump sump pump in the basement, which would pump the collected water up and out through a PVC discharge line. On the exterior of the home, we attached an IceGuard filter to the discharge line. This special pipe will allow water to exit the line should the lower end of the pipe become blocked by ice or other debris. Finally, we emplaced a SaniDry XP dehumidifier in the basement. This will take in the moist air, and output dry, healthy air. With these systems working together, water damage will no longer be a concern for this homeowner!
CleanSpace Installation Keeps Out Unwanted Water in Steep Falls, ME
A homeowner living in Steep Falls, ME was looking for a way to have a few things done for their home. They wanted to better waterproof the crawlspace beneath their home and also better insulate the space. Not long after they began looking, they were referred to call us at TC Hafford Basement Systems to get a free estimate on the cost of the job. When they got their estimate, they liked what we had to offer and hired us to get the job done for them! When our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on better insulating the space first. To achieve this, Spray Foam was used along the upper edges of the crawlspace as well as along each joist supporting the home. This foam increases in size once sprayed and fills the cracks and gaps that might decrease a homes insulation efficiency. Next, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the interior of the crawlspace. This liner covers all of the walls as well as the floor of the space, locking out any outside moisture. Now that this homeowner has a proper vapor barrier below their home, they can rest assured they're safe from a moisture problem developing in the future. The Spray Foam insulation will also help the homeowner in the long-run by keeping the price of heating or cooling their home down.
