Moist Basement in Wilton, ME, in Need of Dehumidifier
A homeowner in Wilton gave us a call when they noticed mold growing in their basement. This issue had to be resolved immediately, and TC Hafford was on the case. The main problem with the basement was the amount of moisture in the air. This moisture created a perfect environment for mold to grow. This mold, if left alone, could potentially damage the supporting frame of the house. To resolve this issue, the homeowner had us install a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. This will suck in the air from the basement, dry it out, and push the dry air out across the basement. Now mold is not anything this homeowner needs to worry about.
Musty Basement In North Turner, ME Kept Dry With SaniDry
A couple in North Turner were having trouble with mold growing in their basement. There wasn’t much water build up, but enough moisture was entering the air to enable mold to grow freely throughout the basement. This was not only an issue because one of the homeowners was allergic, but the spores from the mold could lead to further health concerns for the homeowners if left unchecked. Seeking a way to put an end to this mold, the homeowners soon heard about TC Hafford Basement Systems from a realtor. They contacted us shortly after and we began work on the basement! To maintain a dry, healthy atmosphere in the basement, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. The SaniDry takes in the surrounding air, removing all the moisture from it, and then pushes the air out into the further reaches of the basement. This pulls in more moist air, allowing the SaniDry to completely dry all of the air within the basement. Without the proper environment to live, the mold will die off, and no more mold will grow in the future. These homeowners can now live at ease, knowing mold is a problem of the past, thanks to SaniDry!

No Need To Climb a Ladder With Gutter Shutter
Growing tired of having to climb a ladder more and more or asking a friend to clean their clogged gutters, this South Portland, ME, homeowner was ready for a change. The homeowner called Gutter Shutter by TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. System Design Specialist Josh Hamel met with the homeowner, and together they designed a Gutter Shutter system that would keep them off the ladder of their 1950’s home.   Gutter Shutter features a seamless design with a gutter guard for added protection, keeping the system clog-free and working all the time. Gutter guards prevent blockages created by a build-up of leaves, twigs, and any other debris that could fall on the homeowner’s roof. Keeping organic material out of the gutter also prevents a number of issues, such as mildew growth, rotting fascia, roof damage, and basement flooding. Gutter Shutter is formed and cut on location to the specific needs of the home. Since the gutters are cut on location, the gutters can be as long or short as necessary without the need to seam two gutters together, creating a unified product that is less susceptible to issues.   The homeowner no longer needs to climb a ladder and is protected with Gutter Shutter installed on their home.
South Portland, ME Home Gets a Refresh with Gutter Shutter
For this South Portland, ME, homeowner, their old gutter just wasn’t cutting it anymore. Clogging and growing mildew, the homeowner wanted to take care of the issue and protect their home from expensive repairs caused by bad gutters. Worried about soil erosion and damage to their homes roof or foundation, they called Gutter Shutter by TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. System Design Specialist Jeff Shuhmacher met with the homeowner and worked with them to choose a Gutter Shutter system that would fit their needs and protect their home. Excited about the benefits of Gutter Shutters clog-free design, the homeowner scheduled an appointment for installation.   First the old gutters were removed from the home, and instead of the homeowner having to worry about disposing of the old gutter, TC Hafford takes on the job of getting rid of them, so the finished job site is left clean. Gutter Shutter features a durable, six-inch aluminum construction that is formed and cut on site, resulting in a seamless gutter that is cut perfectly to the sections of the home that it is attached to. Gutter Shutter comes in many different colors, allowing the homeowner to pick the best match for their home. Once the new gutter is installed, the shutter can be attached to the top. The unique shutter design allows water to easily flow into the gutter without allowing in any debris such as leaves, pine needles, or even small critters. No debris means no clogs, and with Gutter Shutters larger size, more water is able to flow through the gutter, even during the winter months, preventing water from trickling over or icicles forming that could become dangerous. With Gutter Shutter done being installed, the homeowner is happier knowing that their home is more protected than before and they no longer have to worry about their old gutters causing them costly repairs to their home and landscape.
Malfunctioning Sump Pump In Falmouth, ME Replaced With TripleSafe
A homeowner in Falmouth was having trouble with their sump pump. It was allowing water to gather within the basement. The water would enter the sump normally, but then the sump would back-up and allow the water to overflow, back out into the basement. This was an issue they needed professional help with, so after consulting the Yellow Pages, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems. We got them their free estimate, and then we got to work! We began by removing the old pump from the basement. It could be thrown away, as it served no further purpose. We then installed a TripleSafe sump pump. This device contains three separate pumps. The first, primary pump is for the majority of the water. The secondary pump is there in case the primary fails for any reason and stops working. Finally, the third pump is a battery backup and will operate when the power in the home is out. Now this new pump will keep the homeowner’s basement dry is all weather conditions.

Over the past year, this Falmouth, ME homeowner has been dealing with water in their basement and, wanting to use the space, decided it was time to tackle the issue. Wanting to make sure their basement stayed dry, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. System Design Specialist Lou DiStasio worked with the homeowner to design a system that would channel water, keeping the basement dry and the homeowners’ belongings safe.   The homeowner wanted to keep their whole basement dry year-round, so WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter of their basement. The WaterGuard channels the water to a connected TripleSafe Sump Pump that is connected to a Buried Exterior Discharge Line. In high-traffic areas such as doorways, TrenchLock is installed in place of WaterGuard to ensure all water is being collected. To finish off the system and keep the homeowners’ belongings safe, a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was installed. Unlike most dehumidifiers, the SaniDry Sedona is connected to the TripleSafe Sump Pump, so the homeowner never has to worry about emptying a bucket of water, keeping their basement at an ideal humidity level.   The homeowner is able to spend Christmas now focusing on festivities and less on their basement, as it is now waterproofed and their belongings safe.

Moist Basement In Cumberland Center, ME Protected By WaterGuard
A homeowner in Cumberland Center was experiencing trouble with puddles of water gathering on the basement floor. They sought a way to end this gathering of water, soon coming across TC Hafford Basement Systems. Looking to have their basement professionally protected, the homeowner called us to receive their free estimate. They chose what work they wanted done, and we sent in our crew to start working on the basement! We began by digging out the interior perimeter of their basement floor. This created a trench for us to lay down our unique WaterGuard system. This will capture any water entering through the walls or floor of the basement. The WaterGuard is covered over with loose rocks and cement to hide it without hindering functionality. The WaterGuard then guides the gathered water to the sump, where we installed a TripleSafe sump pump. This device is composed of three pumps, a primary and secondary pump for the bulk of the water, and a third, battery backup pump for when the power goes out. The water is evacuated from the pump through a PVC discharge line. On the exterior of the home, we attached a specially designed piece of pipe to this line, known as an IceGuard. The IceGuard will allow water to flow even if the lower end of the pipe is blocked by ice or other debris. These three products working together will be sure to maintain a dry basement for this homeowner. A wet basement should no longer be a concern for them!
