Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Dexter, ME Basement Waterproofed With Fresh Slab
A homeowner in Dexter, ME was having a few problems with their home. Their dirt basement had recently been gathering water, which was causing problems. Not only this, but their garage floor had been sinking down into the earth and was no longer level. To have these problems remedied, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Once our crew arrived, they began work on the garage floor first. With the concrete slab slipping down into the ground, we needed a way to bring it back into place. To achieve this, we drilled holes into the concrete reaching down below. We then injected PolyLevel into these holes. The PolyLevel expands within the cavity beneath the slab, forcing the slab to raise back up to its original position. Once the floor was realigned, the PolyLevel hardens in place. This will keep the floor level and make the homeowner usage of their garage much smoother.
Moving on to the basement, the homeowner wanted the space waterproofed, and made usable for storage purposes. To complete this task, we lined the edges of the floor with a Drainage Matting. This was then covered over with a freshly poured slab of concrete. This creates a floor which has space beneath to allow any water to drain away, as opposed to leaking in through the concrete. The Drainage Matting prevents any moisture from passing through. This will enable the homeowner to utilize the space without any more moisture collecting on the floor.
With their garaged leveled out and their basement made usable, this homeowner now no longer has concerns about the wellbeing of their home. This new basement floor should remain dry for many years to come!
