Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Waterproofing Musty Basement in Adamstown Township, Maine

System Design Specialist Sam C. met with homeowners in Adamstown Township, Maine to help address their damp, musty basement that had bad odors. The dirt floors allowed groundwater to easily enter the space, and that moisture can cause mildew, mold, odors and wood rot over time. The original fiberglass insulation was failing, falling from the ceiling from being damp and heavy. To address the groundwater, we poured a new concrete floor with WaterGuard interior drainage connected to a TripleSafe sump pump. We removed the fiberblass insulation and installed Spray Foam insulation on the walls and rim joists. Spray Foam provides great energy efficiency, and is also water and mold resistant, making it a durable option for below grade spaces. CleanSpace vapor barrier was installed on the walls to seal out moisture. Lastly, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was added to control the humidity and reduce odors. The SaniDry Sedona can handle removing over 100 pints of water from the air per day!
