Crawl Space Encapsulation in Readfield, Maine

System Design Specialist Michael M. met with homeowners in Readfield, Maine who wanted to learn more about encapsulating their nasty crawl space. The crawl space was always damp, with dirt floors that easily allowed groundwater in. Their old fiberglass insulation was falling down and failing. Foreman Travis and crew encapsulated the space with drainage matting, CleanSpace vapor barrier, a SmartSump pump, and Spray Foam insulation. The drainage matting and SmartSump allow groundwater to flow underneath the CleanSpace vapor barrier and be pumped away from the home. CleanSpace is a durable inorganic liner that prevents mold growth and seals out moisture, keeping the wooden beams and joists protected from mold and wood rot. Spray Foam insulation was installed on the walls and rim joists to improve energy efficiency, as well as added protection against mold and water.
