To solve the issue with water easily entering through the dirt floor, we poured a concrete slab to form a new floor for the crawlspace. This won’t guarantee a perfectly dry crawlspace, but it is much better than dirt. On top of this concrete slab, we laid down a Drainage Matting. This will stop moisture that enters through the floor or wall from making its way to the center of the crawlspace. Giving it time to drain back out. Now this homeowner no longer has a dirt floor or a wet crawlspace!

When this Liberty, ME homeowner wanted to increase the height of the crawlspace below their home, they knew they would need new supports where the ground was. After finding a way to remove the dirt covering roughly half the crawlspace, the homeowner searched online for a way to support their home. Our installation crew arrived at the home and began work on this crawlspace by placing down the solid concrete footings that the new supports will rest on. These footings sit on a layer of engineered fill to avoid setting them on potentially unstable ground. Nest, the SmartJack beams are installed and adjusted to fit against the joists of the crawlspace, creating supports capable of maintaining the desired height the homeowner wants for their crawlspace. These beams can also be adjusted in the future, should the home begin to settle in unevenly. Now that the project this homeowner set out to accomplish has been completed, their crawlspace is much more accessible. This gave us a trench in which to lay down our WaterGuard piping system. Which was then covered over with loose rocks and cement to conceal it without hindering functionality. The WaterGuard would capture the water as it traveled through the concrete, guiding it out of the basement. Next, we covered the walls of the basement with BrightWall panels. These hard-plastic panels will collect the moisture as it comes in through the walls, funneling it down to the WaterGuard pipes below as it flows. With these two products working in tandem, this basement floor won’t see any pooled up water in the future!

Upon starting work in the crawlspace, our crew first installed a proper vapor barrier to keep most of the moisture from entering the space to begin with. This barrier was composed of a Drainage Matting to allow the water to easily flow back out of the crawlspace as well as a CleanSpace liner to lock the moisture on the exterior of the new barrier. Atop this liner, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed. This device will pull in the damp air still within the crawlspace and separate any moisture from it. The now-dry air is circulated back throughout the crawlspace while the collected water is forced out of the home through a pump. A homeowner in Friendship, ME needed to get her basement and crawlspace waterproofed before she could finish her basement. This would be a rather large undertaking. After a friend told her about TC Hafford Basement Systems, she made a call to set up a meeting. After meeting with one of our representatives and receiving an estimate, she chose what work she wanted done. We dispatched our crew to the house and got to work! We started with the crawlspace, lining the inside perimeter with a Drainage Matting. This is then covered with a CleanSpace Liner. This liner covers the entire crawlspace, save for the ceiling. Locking out all moisture that might otherwise has leaked into the crawlspace. Next, we excavated the interior perimeter of the basement to allow for the installation of a WaterGuard system. This system collects water as it enters the basement through the walls or floor. Guiding it toward the sump location. This WaterGuard system is then covered over with a fresh layer of cement to hide it within the basement floor. We capped off the WaterGuard pipes with a SmartSump sump pump to remove the water from the basement. Following the PVC discharge pipe out of the basement, we attached an IceGuard on the outside of the home. This is a special piece of pipe on a discharge line that will allow the evacuated water to continue to flow should the lower portion of the pipe become blocked by ice or debris. Finally, we installed a SaniDry CX dehumidifier. This will guarantee the homeowner maintains a dry basement even if moisture makes it into the air.

A homeowner that lived in Union, ME had been living with a slight moisture problem in their basement. Three cracks across the walls in their basement were allowing water from outside to easily leak in. This began with the cracks being brushed clear by a coarse brush to help the sealant hold better. An initial layer of sealant was then applied to the cracks. To give the seals some flexibility and structure, foam mats were then placed over the sealant along the length of the cracks. Finally, another layer of sealant was applied over the top of the foam to complete the FlexiSpan seals. These FlexiSpan seals will keep water out even if the cracks contort over time. This homeowner now can rest assured these cracks are no longer a source of a moisture problem beneath their home. Now that they've been properly sealed they should never leak again!

The first thing that needed to be done was digging up the interior perimeter of the basement. This trench made it possible to lay a WaterGuard pipe system. This pipe will capture the water entering trough the walls or for before it makes it to the surface. The water is then directed to the sump in the basement. Here we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will take the water from the pipe and force it up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. On the exterior of the home, we attached an IceGuard piece to the PVC line. This is a specialized pipe that allows the water coming from the sumo to exit the pipe should the lower end of the discharge line become blocker by ice or other debris. These additions will keep this homeowner’s basement mold free for many years to come!
