Crack In Deer Isle, ME, Basement Sealed With FlexiSpan
Jeff from Deer Isle had a crack in the wall of his Basement. Once he noticed water was spilling in through this crack, he had to have something done to fix it. Jeff took to the internet to find a solution for this problem. He came across TC Hafford Basement Systems, and knew we were the ones for the job.
After being contacted, we had a representative take a look at the crack to see what the best solution was. Once decided, our crew got to work installing FlexiSpan. The first part of this process is to inject the crack with a sealant. This sealant is the first of three layers that make up FlexiSpan. Secondly, we apply a foam matting over the sealant, which acts as barrier for any water that makes it by the sealant. Finally, a second layer of sealant is placed over the foam, sealing it against the crack. This procedure locks out any moisture from trying to enter through the crack, keeping the basement try in three steps. The structure of the FlexiSpan also allows it to contort, should the wall shift at all. Maintaining the seal.
System Design Specialist Craig Z. met with a homeowner who had concerns about their camp in East Millinocket, ME. The seasonal camp had water coming in as well as cracking along the foundation walls. To support and stabilize the affected foundation walls we installed PowerBraces, which can be tightened over time to reverse wall failure without invasive drilling or digging. To address the water issues we installed WaterGuard and TrenchDrain along the perimeter and around the furnace. The WaterGuard funnels water to a SuperSump Plus system which removes the water away from the house through an exterior discharge line.
Medway, ME, Crawlspace Protected From The Elements With CleanSpace
Jim from Medway was in need of protection for his crawlspace. It would easily flood whenever it rained outside, and this needed to be addressed. Shortly after hearing about TC Hafford from another satisfied customer, Jim got in contact with us and arranged for an estimate. We had a representative visit the home to look at the crawlspace and discuss with the homeowner his options for fixing his problem. Once the homeowner decided, we got to work!
The first thing we needed to install was a Drainage matting around the inside perimeter of the crawlspace. This will hold back water entering the crawlspace and confine it to the perimeter, underneath the mat. We then encapsulated the crawlspace with a CleanSpace Liner. This liner covers the floor, as well as the walls and any supports within the crawlspace. With the CleanSpace in place, moisture will no longer be able to enter the crawlspace. Finally, we installed a SaniDry XP Dehumidifier. This dehumidifier will maintain a dry atmosphere within the crawlspace should any moisture make its way into the air. Completely removing any chance for mold to grow, this crawlspace is now perfectly safe from water damage!
Sump Upgrade Protects Medway, ME Basement from Flooding
With water regularly flooding their basement during heavy rainfall, this Medway, ME homeowner was looking for a way to solve this problem. After a quick search online, they found us at TC Hafford Basement Systems and looked over our website to see if we were the right company for them. They called us soon after to set up their free estimate and hear what we could do to solve their flooding problem. Once they decided to have us get the job done, we got started on the basement waterproofing.
As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home, they got started right away by installing a TripleSafe sump system in the floor of the basement. The TripleSafe houses three pumps within it, each pump operating to keep the home water-free around the clock. The primary and secondary pumps will pump the majority of the water out of the home, with the secondary only activating when the primary is dealing with an exceptional amount of water. The third pump is a battery-operated backup pump in case the home loses power during a storm. This pump will then activate to keep the water flowing from the home. All of the water is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line that carries the water a distance from the basement.
To further protect the property from water accumulating in the basement, our crew made two additions to the discharge line. The end of the line was capped with a LawnScape discharge port, which is a plastic end-piece that is built with a grate to allow the water flow without allowing outside debris to enter the line. Just beyond where the discharge line exits the home, an IceGuard pipe section was attached. The IceGuard has special holes that do not interfere with regular water-flow. These holes do, however, protect the home from ice blockages in the line by releasing any backing up water that might otherwise causing flooding.
With these new additions to their home, this homeowner should no longer need to deal with a flooding basement after a storm. Their TripleSafe sump system will keep their basement water-free for years to come!
SuperSump Installation Drains Flooding Medway, ME Basement
A regularly flooding basement was not what this homeowner had in mind when moving into their home. After living with the damp conditions for a while, the homeowner decided to have something done about the problem once they saw TC Hafford Basement Systems on their TV. They called our office in Wells and we set them up with a free estimate. The homeowner agreed to the work we suggested, and our crew was dispatched as soon as possible.
As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home, they got started in the basement right away. To remove the build up of water on this basement floor, a SuperSump sump pump was installed. This device sits beneath the surface of the floor, taking in the gathering water and forcing it out of the home through a PVC discharge line. Outside the home, an IceGuard pipe section was intersected into the discharge line. This piece will allow trapped water to escape the line before reaching the home. Now if a blockage occurs, the water will no longer flow back into the basement to cause more flooding. Finally, a LawnScape discharge port was added to the end of the line to cover it with a grate. This will enable the water to flow normally while keeping debris from entering the pipe.
These installations will ensure this basement no longer takes on water in the future. The SuperSump will pump out the gathering water for years to come!
Medway, ME homeowners had been dealing with water in their basement for 5 years and decided they were done! When it rained the basement would end up with puddles throughout. The homeowners wanted to be able to use the space without damaging their belongings, and they were also concerned about the resale value of their home if it had water issues. To waterproof the space we installed WaterGuard, a perimeter drainage system that captures water and channels it directly to the sump pump. We added a brand new TripleSafe sump pump, which has 2 Zoeller pumps to protect against pump failure, as well as a battery back up so the system will continue to run if the home loses power. Water is pumped away from the home through an exterior buried discharge line. IceGuard is installed on the discharge line to prevent freezing in the winter months. The homeowners can now safely use their basement for storage, and know that their home will get top dollar if they sell!

CleanSpace Vapor Barrier in Eddington, ME Crawl Space

Sagging Floors Need SmartJacks in Eddington, Maine
We recently helped repair this Eddington, Maine crawl space that had sagging floors. Moisture had caused the wooden support beams to mold and begin to rot. We installed custom fit SmartJacks, which are zinc-coated steel posts that lift and level the floors above. The zinc coating prevents the SmartJacks from rusting. They can be tightened over time as any adjustments are needed.
Bradley, ME Basement Waterproofed Using WaterGuard
A homeowner in Bradley was experiencing water leaking into his basement during heavy rains. The water would seem to come from nowhere, but it would gather in the basement nonetheless. This was clearly a case of the water coming in through the walls or up through the floor. This is a very common issue, and after meeting with TC Hafford Basement Systems at a home show, this homeowner chose us to get the job done!
We started by digging up the inside perimeter of the basement, to install the WaterGuard pipe system. This is a specially designed pipe that collects water as it enters through the walls and floor. After capturing the water, it is channeled towards the sump. Next we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will take all of the gathered water and push it up and out of the basement. Now this water issue is a thing of the past!
