Crawl Space Insulation in Burlington, Maine
Homeowners in Burlington, Maine reached out for a free estimate to insulate their crawl space. System Design Specialist Craig Z. met with the owner to assess the crawl space and take measurements. We installed Spray Foam insulation on the walls and rim joists, immediately improving the energy efficiency of the home. Spray Foam expands as it is applied, so it fills all of the cracks and gaps to create an air tight seal, better than fiberglass insulation. Spray Foam is also mold and water resistant, so it's a great choice for below grade spaces.
Home In Ellsworth, ME With Flooding Drain Gets Much Needed Waterproofing
Adam and Kate had been having issues with a water drain in their basement. The drain would overflow during heavy rain and start to flood their basement. This was something they wanted fixed ASAP, so they turned to the Yellow Pages for help. After Adam & Kate contacted us, our foreman Bill Niles and his crew got to work. The old drain, which would flood, was dug out of the basement, and replaced with a SuperSump sump pump. This was connected to the outside, through an IceGuard pipe. IceGuard pipes are specially crafted to allow for water to continue to be pumped outside even if the lower end of the drainage pipe is blocked by debris or ice. These new additions are sure to keep Adam and Kate’s home dry, even during intense storms.
A New Home Addition Causing Issues
After putting a new addition onto their home, this Ellsworth, ME, homeowner has had issues with moisture in their crawl space. Not wanting to move on to other home improvement projects without fixing their crawl space, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems and scheduled a free estimate. System Design Specialist Mark Smith drove out and met with the homeowner to work with them on designing a crawl space encapsulation system.   First, TC Hafford removed the old plastic from the crawl space and laid down brand-new Drainage Matting. Drainage Matting features dimples that create a gap, allowing any groundwater to be channeled without causing any issues to the crawl space. CleanSpace is then laid on top of the Drainage Matting to create an inorganic barrier between outside elements and the crawl space. Finally, a SmartJack was installed to better support the floor above and remove any bounce the floor had.   Now the crawl space is encapsulated, and because of CleanSpace’s bright white color, light is reflected, resulting in a perfect storage area that is protected from critters, moisture, and any other outside element that could cause issues.
Old Sump Pump Concerning New Homeowner
When it rains, this Ellsworth, ME, home has a problem with water coming in through the floor joints and bulkhead, and an old sump isn’t helping the situation. Worried about damage to their home and wanting a healthier basement, the homeowner scheduled a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems for help. Excited to help, System Design Specialist Craig Ziegenbein met with the homeowner and worked with them to design a waterproofing system that would prevent water from coming in and causing issues for the homeowner.   The old sump pump wasn’t working and needed to be replaced. With the old sump gone, a TripleSafe Sump Pump was installed. The TripleSafe features a powerful Zoeller sump placed at the lowest level with a more powerful Zoeller ½ hp pump set higher to take over during situations with a high level of water. To protect a homeowner in the case of a power outage, a third pump is included. The UltraSump Battery Backup sump pump is set at the highest level and is capable of pumping 11,500 gallons or more on a fully charged battery. To catch water and channel it to the TripleSafe, WaterGuard Perimeter Drain and TrenchDrain were installed where needed. WaterGuard was installed under the slab and channels water to the sump pump and has built-in clean-out ports for easy maintenance to keep the system running at 100%. TrenchDrain was installed in high-traffic areas such as the bulkhead entrance to catch the maximum amount of water possible. The TripleSafe has to pump the water somewhere, so a Buried Discharge Line was installed that takes the water away from the home where it won't be a problem. At the end of the Discharge line, a LawnScape outlet was installed to prevent any critters or debris from coming into the line, keeping it clear and unobstructed. Winter months in Maine can get very cold, so to prevent freezing temperatures from slowing down the system, IceGuard was installed at the base of the Discharge line to prevent ice from building up and ensure the system running at 100% all year round. Finally, to prevent mold growth and damage from high humidity in the basement, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed to maintain a consistent and safe humidity level. Unlike most dehumidifiers, the SaniDry Sedona drains directly to the TripleSafe, so the homeowner never has to worry about emptying a bucket and can travel without the concern of humidity-causing issues in their basement.   Now that the homeowner is fully protected from water and their old sump pump is long gone, they are able to enjoy their home without worrying about water causing them issues. Their home is healthier; their basement can now be used properly and without the risk of their belongings being damaged
Waterproofing a Trenton, ME Home
This Trenton, ME, homeowner has lived in their home for nearly a decade, and in the last three years they have had issues with water making it’s way into their basement. They couldn’t store anything on the floor without it being damaged, and wanting peace of mind that their home would be safe, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems and booked a free estimate. System Design Specialist Mark Smith worked with the homeowner to design a waterproofing system that would waterproof the basement and allow the homeowner to regain control of their basement. WaterGuard was installed along the perimeter of the basement to catch and channel water to the new SuperSump Plus. The SuperSump Plus takes the water and pumps it out of the basement through an Exterior Buried Discharge line that takes the water far away from the home. The whole system is protected against ice buildup during winter with the installation of IceGuard on the Discharge line. This ensures that the system will always run, preventing flooding when snow melts. To finish out the waterproofing system, a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was installed to keep the humidity in the basement at a safe level, preventing musty smells and mold growth. Now the homeowner is happy that they are able to use their basement again without the risk or concern of their belongings and appliances being damaged because of water.
Waterproofing Aurora, ME Basement
Aurora, ME homeowners contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems for help with their wet basement. We installed a SuperSump Plus system, which helps remove any water away from the home through an exterior buried discharge line. Leaking Basement In Aurora, ME Waterproofed
Bruce from Aurora had two cracks in his basement wall, which would leak water into the basement on a regular basis. Bruce needed this to stop, because the water coming in could lead to water damage; or even worse mold growth. Soon after seeing an ad for TC Hafford Basement Systems on his television, Bruce gave us a call and received his free estimate. We had our crew head over to the home and got to work! We started by digging up a trench around the inside perimeter of the basement floor. This made way for us to lay down a WaterGuard pipe system. This is then covered over with loose rocks and concrete to conceal it within the floor while not hindering functionality. The WaterGuard system captures water as it enters the basement through the walls or floor. Next, we started fixing the cracks with FlexiSpan. We applied the first layer of sealant directly to the cracks, this is the primary barrier against moisture entering the cracks. The sealant is then covered with a foam matting. This gives the FlexiSpan its flexible nature. Finally, a second layer of sealant is added over the foam to hold it all in place, locking any moisture completely outside the crack. Now Bruce can live without fear of water damage in his basement!
SuperSump Installation Protects Aurora, ME Basement from Gathering Water
Having been living with a damp basement for some time, this Aurora, ME homeowner thought it was time they did something about the water below their home. Needing the space for storage and wanting to avoid water damage, the homeowner needed a way to remove the leaking water that typically gathered on their floor of the basement during rainfall. After a quick search online, they discovered TC Hafford Basement Systems and called us to receive their free quote. Our sales representative soon sat down with the homeowner to talk over their options and they gave us the go ahead to begin work on their home. As soon as our crew arrived at the home, their first task was to install a SuperSump pump system in the floor of the basement. This device will take in the water flooding the space, forcing it up and out of the home at a rater of over 2,600 gallons per hour. The water flows away from the home through a PVC discharge line. Outside the home, two additions were attached to this line to improve the waterproofing of the basement. The first was an IceGuard pipe segment added just beyond where the line leaves the home. This piece has upward facing holes built into the sides that allow for water blocked by ice or debris to escape without backing up into the home. Finally, the end of the line received a LawnScape discharge port. The end of this piece is covered by a grate that will release the water onto the ground to harmlessly drain away while keeping out larger debris. With their newly installed sump, this homeowner will no longer suffer from a regularly flooding basement. The SuperSump system along with specialty piping will keep this basement water-free for years to come!
CleanSpace Saves Mount Desert, ME Crawlspace From Mold Growth
A homeowner in Mount Desert had been having trouble with mold growing within his crawlspace. This mold was beginning to cause a smell to form in the space that was spreading through the basement, and up into the home. The homeowner, seeking a way to eliminate moisture build up in the crawlspace, searched online to find a solution. After finding TC Hafford Basement Systems, the homeowner contacted us for a free estimate. We then sent out our crew and got to work! We began by laying a Drainage Matting around the wall/floor joint of the crawlspace. This mat will hold back water attempting to find its way to the center of the space. The water held by the mat will be given more time to ideally drain back into the surrounding soil. Next, we encapsulated the space with a CleanSpace liner. This liner will lock out any and all water trying to enter the crawlspace. Finally, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. This will maintain a dry atmosphere within the crawlspace, eliminating the mold by removing its habitat. This homeowner now has a dry basement and systems in place to keep it that way!
Mount Desert, ME Basement Kept Dry with FlexiSpan Seal Placement
With a crack along one of their basement walls, a homeowner living in Mount Desert, ME was beginning to experience some water troubles. Without a way to seal the crack, this homeowner had no way to stop outside water from leaking onto their basement floor. They soon saw an ad for TC Hafford on their TV and called us to receive a free estimate. After hearing their options, they decided to have us get the job done right away. Once our installation crew arrived on the scene, they started work on this crack by brushing it clear of debris with a coarse brush. Then the first layer of sealant was applied within and around the crack. A foam mat was then place along the length of the crack, covering the first layer of sealant. Finally, a seconad layer of sealant was applied over the top of the foam, completing what is known as a FlexiSpan seal. As the name suggests, the FlexiSpan can adjust to slight changes in the shape of the crack thanks to the foam core. This will now keep out any future leaks that would have otherwise ended up across this basement floor. Now that the crack below their home has been sealed successfully, this homeowner now has peace of mind during any rainfall. The FlexiSpan seal will keep water out of this basement for many years to come!
