WaterGuard Systems Protects Princeton, ME Basement from Frequent Moisture
Living with a basement that would regularly take on water during rainfall or melting snow, this Princeton, ME homeowner needed a little help. Having worked with us before, the homeowner called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems to find out how we could solve this problem for them. We set them up with a free estimate where our sales representative would go over the homeowner’s options with them. They soon gave us the green light to get started on waterproofing their basement! As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home, they got started on the basement floor by excavating space for our WaterGuard system. This involved removing enough of the floor to create a shallow trench around the perimeter of the basement. It was within this trench that the WaterGuard piping was laid and covered by a fresh layer of concrete to seal it within the floor. Now any water traveling through the concrete foundation will become trapped by small slits in the sides of the WaterGuard. This water then travels through the piping to the sump for removal without ever reaching the surface of the floor. To handle the water removal, a TripleSafe sump system was installed in the basement floor, with the WaterGuard feeding in directly. The TripleSafe houses three pumps, each serving a separate function. The primary pump handles the bulk of the water removal, with the secondary pump only activating as a backup for the primary in the event that it becomes overwhelmed. The third and final pump, operating on a battery, will turn on to remove water during any power outages that might occur. This will ensure the basement remains water-free during any weather! The water being removed flows from the home through a PVC discharge line. Now that they have a proper waterproofing system below their home, this homeowner can expect to find a dry basement floor instead of constantly damp one when they go downstairs. The WaterGuard & TripleSafe systems will maintain a dry basement floor for years to come!
Ice Issues Call For Gutter Shutter
These Grand Stream Lake homeowners were growing tired of dealing with ice build up along their roof (see photo) and they were ready for a change, so they called Gutter Shutter by TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. Our Gutter Shutter System Design Specialist met with the homeowners and worked with them to design a Gutter Shutter system that would protect the home and surpass their expectations. Gutter Shutter is formed and cut on the property, so the homeowner is able to enjoy the benefits of a seamless gutter. With the added protection of the unique shutter design, debris such as leaves and pine needles aren’t able to make it into the gutter, meaning the homeowner will no longer have to worry about climbing a ladder to clear any clogs. Gutter Shutter comes in many different colors, allowing homeowners to match the gutter to their home. Gutter Shutter by TC Hafford Basement Systems not only removes the old gutters but also disposes of them to save the homeowner the headache of having to do so. Now with the Gutter Shutter system installed, the home is protected from the troubles that rainwater falling off a roof can cause, such as soil erosion, basement leaks, and foundation damage.
Musty & Damp Crawlspace Issues At Vacation Home
Our Beals, ME homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems for help with their vacation home. Rather than being able to enjoy their beautiful oceanfront property, they were busy dealing with a damp and musty crawlspace. Our System Design Specialist Craig Z. met with the homeowners to outline a plan to make their crawlspace usable.    SprayFoam was installed on the rim joists and walls to insulate the area, keeping cold air out during the winter, making the space more comfortable, and saving the homeowner money on their energy bill. To fully encapsulate the crawl space and keep moisture and critters out, CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was installed. Drainage Matting is a durable barrier with dimples to help channel water and elevate the CleanSpace, keeping it clean. CleanSpace is a durable, inorganic vapor barrier that gets attached to the walls and seals up the crawl space, keeping moisture out. Finishing out the full waterproofing system was the installation of a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier.
Basement In Machais, ME, In Need Of Permanent Moisture Solution
Karl from Machias had been noticing moisture gathering in his basement. This was causing a musty smell, and possibly even mold growth. The moisture was a concern for Karl because he had a “waterproofing” sheet in place to prevent this, yet the moisture still got in. After searching online, Karl contacted TC Hafford to get the job done. We gave Karl a free estimate on possible solutions and he made his decision. We then got to work installing a SaniDry XP Dehumidifier. This dehumidifier will maintain a dry atmosphere in the basement, even if moisture still enters from the outside. The SaniDry will take in the surrounding moist air, dry it out, and push it outward into the far reaches of the basement. This creates a cycle where the dry air pushes the moist air towards the SaniDry, which then dries it out and pushes it out to pull in more moist air. Now moisture is no longer a concern for Karl!
Machias, ME Basement Wet All the Time
Homeowners in Machias, ME were tired of dealing with a wet basement. They reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems for help waterproofing the space. To capture the water, we installed WaterGuard, a perimeter drainage system. From there, any water is funneled to the new TripleSafe sump pump. The TripleSafe has 2 Zoeller pumps and a battery back up system so the sump pump will continue to work even if the home loses power.
WaterGuard Installation Keeps Machias, ME Basement Completely Water-Free
A couple living in Machias, ME had been living with a damp basement for some time. Tired of needing to manually remove the water from their basement, the homeowners needed a permenant solution. They were soon referred to get a free estimate from us at TC Hafford Basement Systems and called is right away. After their free estimate, they decided they wanted us to get the job done for them and we got to work! As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the basement by excavating a shallow trench into the perimeter of the concrete floor. Here, WaterGuard piping was laid, surrounding the basement floor. These pipes, buried beneath a fresh layer of concrete, these pipes will capture any leaking moisture in the future and guided the water to the sump to be removed. Within the sump, we installed a SuperSump pump to remove the water from the home. This pump can output water at a rate of 2,650 gallons per hour. Plenty of power to keep this basement free of water. The water exits the home through a PVC discharge line. Outside the home, an IceGuard pipe section was attached to the line, to protect the basement against ice blockages. Any trapped water will be able to escape through special holes in the sides of the IceGuard. Finally, a LawnScape discharge port was used to cap the end of the line. This piece forms a grate on the end of the line to allow the water to flow out onto the lawn, while preventing debris from entering the line. With these improvements to their basement, these homeowners will no longer need to remove water from their basement manually. Their WaterGuard piping and SuperSump pump will ensure their basement remains dry!
Machias, ME Basement Protected Against Leakage with TripleSafe Upgrade
Having a basement that would regularly flood whenever the drain in the floor would backup, this Machias, ME homeowner was in desperate need of basement waterproofing. After they saw an ad on their TV for TC Hafford Basement Systems, they gave us a call and spoke with our office staff about setting up their free estimate. The homeowner soon met with one of our sales representatives to discuss their options for waterproofing. Once the homeowner made their decision, we got started on solving their wet basement problem. Upon arriving at the home, our crew got to work by first expanding the existing drain to enable the installation of a sump system. Next, a TripleSafe sump pump was installed. The TripleSafe contains three pump that act to maintain a dry basement floor. The primary and secondary pumps both work to remove the bulk of the water needing removal from the basement. The secondary pump will only activate if the primary pump fails or needs assistance with the level of water. Finally, the third pump is a battery-operated backup pump for when the home loses power. This will ensure the basement floor remains water-free even during harsh storms. The water removed by the TripleSafe system travels through a PVC discharge line up and out of the home where it passes through two additional waterproofing features. The first being an IceGuard pipe segment attached just beyond where the discharge line leaves the home. The IceGuard has built-in holes that face up, only allowing for water traveling back up the pipe to escape. This will prevent ice blockages or other debris in the line from causing flooding in the home. Lastly, the water exits through a LawnScape discharge port, that covers the end of the line with a grate. The grate will keep debris from entering the end of the line while continuing to let the water drain freely. The water is deposited onto the ground far enough from the home to not cause further trouble for the homeowner. With their new sump system in place, this homeowner can now make use of their basement how they wanted to without the need to fear water damage. The TripleSafe system will keep water from pooling up all across this basement in the future!

Marshfield, ME Basement Needs Sump Pump
Marshfield, ME homeowners were dealing with unwanted water in their basement. They had contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems years prior, and realized after years of continuing to deal with water issues they were ready to make the needed changes. System Design Specialist Stacy H. created a plan to waterproof their space. We installed WaterGuard around the perimeter of the basement, with TrenchDrain in the high traffic areas. These products help channel any water to the new SuperSump Plus pump system. The SuperSump removes water from the basement through an exterior discharge line away from the home. We install IceGuard on the outside of the discharge line to prevent the system from freezing and backing up in the winter.
Polyurethane Injection Prevents Jonespost, ME Basement From Flooding
A couple in Jonesport were having trouble with a crack in the wall of their foundation. This crack was letting in enough water during rain to flood the basement with several inches of water. Seeking immediate assistance with this crack, the homeowners searched online. This is where they found TC Hafford Basement Systems. They called us right away, and we dispatched a representative to give them their free estimate. After the meeting, we sent in our crew and got to work! To prevent further flooding within the basemen, we needed to seal the crack. To do this, we laid sealant over the top of the crack. Placing “plugs” every foot or so going up the crack. These plugs are hollow, allowing us to use them as a pathway for an injection. Once the sealant set, we began to inject the Polyurethane in through the plugs. The Polyurethane filled the crack, spreading into even the smallest crevasses. After letting the Polyurethane sit, it hardened within the crack, forming an impenetrable wall that water would no longer be able to pass through. With this new seal over the crack, a flooding basement is now a thing of the past for these homeowners.
