New Durham, NH Basement Walls Cracks Sealed With FlexiSpan & Polyurethane Injection
Challenge
A homeowner in New Durham, NH had been struggling to keep their basement free of water. Two cracks had appeared on the walls of their basement and they couldn’t get a handle on the water themselves. To remedy the problem before it got worse, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once our industry leading installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the cracks starting with the one across an open wall. This required our FlexiSpan to seal. To install this, we began by brushing the crack clear of debris with a coarse brush. Next, a primary coat of sealant was applied within the crack. Next, to give the FlexiSpan the flexibility the name suggests we laid a foam matting up the length of the crack. The mat was then covered with a second layer of sealant to complete the seal. Now that the FlexiSpan is in place, the crack will no longer allow water to flow onto the floor and will retain the shape of the crack if any shifting occurs.
Moving to a crack running behind several support pillars, we used a Polyurethane injection for this crack. It was brushed clear just like the first crack. After this, a primary layer of sealant was applied over the top of this crack, with injection plugs placed every few inches up the crack. Once dried in place, the plugs were sequentially opened and injected with a Polyurethane compound. This filled the crack, expanding to form the seal within. Once the crack was filled with Polyurethane the plugs were resealed, locking the structure in place and sealing the crack.
With these two seals protecting their basement, this homeowner will no longer need to worry about water flooding into their home. Any moisture that would have leaked in will remain blocked for many years to come!
