Looking to keep moisture from the ground out of the crawlspace below their home, this homeowner living in Winter Harbor, ME contacted our team at TC Hafford Basement Systems. Once they received their free estimate, they were ready to have us get started on the job right away. To keep out any and all moisture, a vapor barrier needed to be put in place below this home. This began with a Drainage Matting laid across the floors surface followed by a CleanSpace liner encapsulation. These layers form a water-tight barrier to keep out moisture entering through the earth under the home, protecting the home from long-term damage caused by accumulating water.
With a proper vapor barrier protecting their crawlspace, this homeowner can rest assured no water-problems will take root below their home in the future. The CleanSpace liner will keep out any moisture that might have otherwise gathered in the crawlspace from rainfall or melting snow.
Homeowners in Limestone, ME were having issues in their home resulting from the high humidity in their crawl space. We installed our two-step encapsulation system to address the failing crawl space. First we put down drainage matting to control the groundwater, and then we install CleanSpace vapor barrier to seal out moisture. A SmartSump pump was installed to remove groundwater. We also added a SaniDry Sedona high efficiency air system to filter the air and control the humidity level in the crawl space, which will help the home above.
Homeowners from Orient, Maine contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems for help with their damp and humid crawl space. They had an old plastic liner sitting on top of the dirt floor, but wanted to update the crawl space to a full encapsulation with a vapor barrier, and they were also interested in a dehumidifier. We installed our two-step encapsulation system, which includes drainage matting and a CleanSpace liner. Drainage matting helps control the groundwater, and the CleanSpace vapor barrier is installed on top to encapsulate the space, sealing out moisture. CleanSpace is an inorganic material so it has the added benefit of preventing mold growth. To address the humidity, we installed a SaniDry Sedona high efficiency air system. The SaniDry Sedona can remove 100 pints of water per day and keeps the crawl space at a healthy humidity level to avoid moisture problems.
This Eastport, ME, homeowner was worried that their damp and musty crawl space would eventually lead to health issues if the problem wasn’t solved. With no plan of moving or selling the home, the homeowner also wanted to address the problem of the floors above the crawl space being cold in the winter months. The homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems for help, and System Design Specialist Craig Ziegenbein met with the homeowner for a free estimate.
Craig worked with the homeowner to design a crawl space encapsulation system that would surpass the expectations of the homeowner and protect the health of the home and their family. CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was laid down and attached to the walls to encapsulate the space, creating an inorganic barrier to protect from moisture and outside elements. A SmartSump was installed to pump groundwater out of the space and through an Exterior Buried Discharge Line. A SmartJack was installed to provide additional support to the floor above, and to finish the system, a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was installed to keep humidity at a safe level. Having to regularly empty out a dehumidifier bucket can be annoying, so to prevent the homeowner from having to check often, the SaniDry Sedona is connected to the SmartSump, ensuring all water is pumped out of the crawl space and no bucket ever has to be emptied.
The crawl space is now fully encapsulated, and the homeowner can live and enjoy their home without the concern of a damp and musty crawl space affecting the health of their family and home.
Homeowners were concerned about water in the basement and lack of structural support. They asked for a new concrete floor, SmartJack supports, and a waterproofing system. TC Hafford installers went to the home and completely transformed this basement. Their new floor is clean, smooth and dry, and will stay that way thanks to the SuperSump and UltraSump, and SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier.
