TC Hafford Basement Systems Before & After Photos

New homeowners in Pittsfield, Maine frequently experienced 2-3" of water in their basement, and they were tired of cleaning it up constantly. They met with System Design Specialist Mark S. who provided a free estimate to waterproof the basement. We installed a new concrete floor with WaterGuard interior perimeter drainage system. The WaterGuard captures water at the cove joint and channels it to the new TripleSafe sump pump to be pumped away from the home through an exterior buried discharge line. The TripleSafe sump system has two Zoeller pumps, as well as a third battery backup pump to keep the system running if the home loses power. CleanSpace Wall System was also installed on the walls as a vapor barrier to seal out moisture.

A previous Basement Systems customer recently purchased this Bremen, ME, home, and once they moved in and saw their basement, they knew they wanted to protect their home, so they called TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. Dr. Energy Saver System Design Specialist Nima Farshid met with the homeowner and worked with them to design a system that would waterproof the basement and create a more energy-efficient space while they were at it. 

Step One: Waterproofing

The homeowner wanted the basement to be dry all of the time, so they did not want to cut any corners. WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter of the basement to collect and channel water. In high-traffic areas such as entrances and the oil tank, TrenchDrain was installed and connected to the WaterGuard. The water has to go somewhere, so the homeowner chose a SuperSump for the job. The SuperSump takes the water and pumps it through an Exterior Buried Discharge line, which gets the water far away from the home. To prevent ice buildup and keep the system running at 100% during the winter months, IceGuard was installed on the Discharge line. CleanSpace Wall System was installed along the walls and attached to the WaterGuard. CleanSpace Wall System acts as a vapor barrier and channels any moisture coming in from the cinderblock wall to the WaterGuard. Finishing out the waterproofing system was the installation of a SaniDry XP Dehumidifier to keep the humidity in the basement at a safe level. The Sani Dry XP drains directly to the SuperSump, so the homeowner never has to worry about emptying a bucket of water, and their basement will always be protected against high moisture.

Step Two: Creating a More Energy-Efficient Space 

It’s no secret that heating and cooling a home can be expensive. Wanting to save money on their energy bill and create a more comfortable home, the homeowner opted for SprayFoam insulation. Closed-cell SprayFoam was installed along the basement walls to trap in heat during the winter and prevent the homeowner from having to constantly adjust their thermostat throughout the day.

Now the homeowner not only has a more comfortable home, but their new home is protected against water and moisture. Mold will be prevented from growing, keeping their family healthy, and their basement is set up to be used however the homeowner would like, without the risk of their belongings being damaged.

TC Hafford Basement Systems recently helped Bremen, ME homeowners with encapsulating their crawl space. Their old crawl space had dirt floors and moisture issues, causing problems with their old fiberglass insulation. We installed our two-step encapsulation system, drainage matting with a CleanSpace liner. CleanSpce is a vapor barrier that seals out moisture, and prevents mold growth. SprayFoam insulation was added on the walls and rim joists to keep an air tight seal and provide energy savings for the homeowners. Lastly, we installed a SaniDry Sedona high efficiency air system to filter the air as well as control the humidity in the crawl space.

Homeowners in Guilford, Maine were tired of dealing with a leaky, wet basement. We installed our basement waterproofing solutions to keep their space dry and usable. First step was to pour a new slab floor with WaterGuard perimeter drainage system. CleanSpace Wall System was added on the walls to seal out moisture and give a fresh, clean appearance. WaterGuard connects to their new TripleSafe sump pump (not pictured) to pump water away from the home. These products work seamlessly together to waterproof the basement for good.

Guilford homeowner was experiencing a wet basement with water coming in down the walls. They reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems and our System Design Specialist Alan Noyes evaluated their needs. We installed the CleanSpace wall system with WaterGuard, as well as a TripleSafe Sump Pump and SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier.

WaterGuard is installed around the perimeter of the basement to channel any water to a TripleSafe Sump Pump that will take water out of the basement and push it through an exterior Buried Discharge Line. CleanSpace Wall System is installed and connected to the WaterGuard, ensuring no water can seep through any cracks and end up on the new slab. To prevent humidity from being an issue, a SaniDry Sedona is installed in the basement to keep humidity at a safe level. The SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier is set up with an additional line attached to the TripleSafe Sump Pump so the homeowner no longer has to go into the basement to empty their old dehumidifier.
