Every time heavy rain comes through, this Machiasport, ME basement fills with a couple of inches of water, causing severe moisture issues for the homeowner. It’s important to take care of issues like this quickly to prevent damage that can ruin the health of the home and create an unsafe space to live in. The homeowner scheduled a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems and worked with System Design Specialist Craig Ziegenbein to design an encapsulation system that would help the homeowner protect their home's health.
CleanSpace with Drainage Matting is laid on the ground to create a channel for water and an inorganic barrier between the CleanSpace and the outside elements. The CleanSpace Wall System was installed to create a full encapsulation system to keep moisture out of the space. The water has to go somewhere, so a SmartSump Sump Pump was installed to pump water through the new Exterior Buried Discharge Line. To keep the system running all year, even during the winter, IceGuard was installed on the Discharge Line to prevent ice from building up. Finally, a SaniDry Sedona was installed and connected to a condensate pump that drains to the SmartSump. Now, humidity will stay at a safe level, and the homeowner will never have to worry about emptying a bucket of water. The space is fully encapsulated, and the home’s health is protected.
A Pembroke, ME homeowner contacted us for help with the stacked stone basement in their older home. The walls and floor had damage from cracking and crumbling, and water was coming into the basement. We poured a brand new slab floor, along with WaterGuard to channel moisture to the brand new TripleSafe sump pump system. CleanSpace Walls were installed around the basement as a vapor barrier sealing out moisture and preventing mold growth. The homeowner can use their basement safely now that it is dry and protected!
Living in Pembroke, ME, this homeowner had a developing moisture problem in their basement. Looking for ways to remedy this problem, they called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems, and we were able to set them up with a free estimate. After hearing their options, they hired us right away to get started on a permanent solution to the moisture problem. This began with a WaterGuard piping system being buried beneath the surface of the concrete floor, around the perimeter of the basement. This will form a barrier to capture moisture leaking in through the foundation. Next, a TripleSafe sump system was installed in the basement floor with the WaterGuard feeding directly into it. Now any water captured by the barrier of piping will be guided straight to the TripleSafe for removal from the basement without any moisture gathering on the floors surface. Finally, a CleanSpace wall system was put in place, lining the walls with a waterproof seal to intercept any wall leakage and guide it down into the WaterGuard.
These waterproofing installations will ensure this basement remains water-free for years to come! The WaterGuard & TripleSafe systems working together will be more than enough to keep this basement dry and usable for the homeowner.
We recently helped homeowners in Calais, Maine with their newly purchased house. The basement was damp, and that moisture had caused the support beams to weaken over time. Lally columns were rusting, and the floors above were beginning to sag. We installed SmartJacks to properly stabilize the support of the home. SmartJacks are zinc-coated steel posts that will never rust, and are custom fit to level the floors of the home. They can be adjusted over time if needed as the house continues to settle.
With water regularly leaking into their basement through a gap below a door leading in from the outside, this Pleasant Point, ME homeowner needed a solution to keep the water at bay. After they called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems and receiving their free estimate, our installation crew made their way to the home to provide the homeowner a permanent solution to their problem. To combat the water leaking into this basement through the opening below the door, a WaterGuard piping system along with TrenchDrain section were buried within the perimeter of the floor. With the TrenchDrain running below the door, flush with the floors surface, any water leaking into this basement in the future, either through the door or foundation, will be captured by the WaterGuard and guided to the homeowners existing sump where the water will exit the home.
Now that this homeowner has a WaterGuard piping system protecting their basement, any leaking moisture will no longer become a puddle on their floor. A flooding basement is now a thing of the past for this Pleasant Point, ME homeowner.
