This homeowner in Bath, ME, has been dealing with water in their basement throughout the year, causing mold and floor buckling. Wanting to fix their basement troubles for good, the homeowner booked a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems. System Design Specialist Tom Rich worked with the homeowner to design a waterproofing system that would keep water out and prevent mold and damage.

Before the new slab could be poured, the area needed to be waterproofed. Drainage Matting was laid down to create an inorganic barrier that would protect the slab and help channel groundwater to the WaterGuard Perimeter Drain with it’s dimpled design. WaterGuard captures and channels water to the new TripleSafe Sump Pump system. The TripleSafe includes two Zoeller pumps with an additional Battery Powered Backup pump that keeps the basement dry during a power outage. The TripleSafe drains through an Exterior Buried Discharge line that’s protected against freezing with the installation of IceGuard. Now that the area was fully prepped, the new slab was poured and smoothed. The homeowner is able to enjoy and use their basement without the risk of water damaging anything, and water is kept out, protecting the homeowner against mold.

After exploring the issue in their basement below, they also found rusted lally columns and crumbly walls. To give support to the floors above, as well as the failing walls, we installed StableLock Wall system. StableLock is a poured concrete wall that abuts the failing wall, preventing it from bowing or shifting further. We can install the StableLock wall with minimal disruption, compared to the traditional method of having to lift the home. StableLock is also much more cost effective since we don't have to do any lifting. The homeowners are happy to have flat floors and know that their home is protected for years to come!

Bath, Maine homeowners experienced cracking in their hardwood floors due to the floors starting to sag. To support the sagging floors we installed SmartJacks, custom fit steel posts that support and lift the home above. SmartJacks are zinc-coated so they never rust, and they can be adjusted over time as needed to continue to keep the floors level.

We worked with a general contractor to encapsulate this damp crawl space in Saco, Maine. The general contractor was replacing rotted support beams that had been caused by the moisture in the crawl space. Dirt floors allow moisture to seep in, leading to big problems like mold and rot. We installed our two-step encapsulation system, consisting of a layer of drainage matting and a CleanSpace vapor barrier liner. CleanSpace seals out moisture, and is treated to prevent mold growth. We also installed a SmartSump and SaniDry Sedona. The SmartSump pump removes groundwater by pumping it away from the home through an exterior buried discharge line. The SaniDry Sedona is a high efficiency air system that both filters allergens from the air, while also controlling humidity. The SaniDry Sedona can remove over 100 pints of water from the air per day!
