Basement Wall Slanting Away from Home in Winslow, ME

Winslow, ME homeowners needed help when they realized their cracked foundation wall was also slanting away from the home. Not knowing how much a repair like this would cost, they reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. Rather than needing to replace and pour a new wall which would be costly and disruptive, we recommended push piers as a repair solution. Push piers help transfer the weight of the structure to deep bedrock underground, passing the weak soils that caused settlement. It is a quick installation compared to other repair options, and will keep the foundation walls in the correct position to support the home.

Basement Water Caused Major Mildew Issues in Boothbay, ME

Homeowners experienced major issues when their wet basement ruined an air exchanger and caused mildew throughout the house. They were planning to sell the home and needed help resolving the water intrusion so they called TC Hafford Basement Systems for help. To address their issues, we first poured a new slab floor with WaterGuard, a perimeter drainage system. Next we added SuperSump pump system to collect the water from WaterGuard and pump it away from the home through an exterior buried discharge line. CleanSpace Wall System was installed on the basement walls to act as a vapor barrier, sealing out moisture and providing a fresh, clean look. Lastly, a SaniDry Sedona high efficiency air system was installed to both control the humidity, as well as filter the air. The owners can confidently move forward with selling the home knowing they have protected both their investment and the buyer's best interest.

Encapsulating a Wet Crawl Space in Boothbay, Maine

Homeowners in Boothbay, Maine recently reached out for help with repairing their wet crawl space. We installed our CleanSpace vapor barrier with drainage matting, which work together to control groundwater and seal moisture out of the crawl space. CleanSpace is an inorganic material, so the vapor barrier liner also prevents mold growth, keeping the crawl space protected and healthy. Spray Foam insulation was installed along the top of the crawl space walls and rim joists, providing immediate energy efficiency improvements for the home. The crawl space is now dry, healthy, and the owners can safely utilize the space without worry of water and mold damage.

Maine Home with Unique Ledge Problem in Basement Leaking Water

Referred to as the “Ledge Room” by the homeowner, this BoothBay Harbor, ME, basement was dealing with water leaking in when it rains and grew concerned about mold and damage to their finished walls. The ledge in the basement was the main root of the issue, and with the homeowner wanting to retire into the home, they didn’t want to waste any time solving the problem. The homeowner booked a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems and worked with System Design Specialist Michael Madore to design a system that would waterproof their basement and protect the home from costly repairs.

Water needs to go somewhere that can take it out of the basement, so a SuperSump was installed that uses a Zoeller sump to collect water and push it away from the home through an Exterior Buried Discharge line. CleanSpace Wall System was installed on the ledge and walls to act as a vapor barrier and channel water to the new WaterGuard system that was installed. WaterGuard collects water and channels it to the SuperSump, keeping water off the basement floor. SprayFoam was installed to insulate the basement and seal the CleanSpace to the wall. A SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed in the basement to keep humidity at a safe level, preventing musty odors and mold growth. Now the homeowner is happy knowing their basement is dry, more energy efficient, and healthier. They can use their basement as they please without the risk of their belongings being damaged or ruined by mold.
