Waterproofing Before a New Slab Floor
This Leeds, ME homeowner was on their wits' end after having their walls and floors ruined because of their basement flooding. They wanted to be able to finish the space and actually use it instead of their basement being an object for nightmares. Exhausted and ready to solve their water intrusion problems, the homeowner booked a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems. System Design Specialist Nick Ciciarelli met with the homeowner and worked with them to design a waterproofing system specifically designed for their home.   Wanting their basement dry all the time, they opted for a full Slab with WaterGuard system to ensure they can finally remodel their basement without the risk of their work being ruined by water. A lot of work goes into prepping the basement for the new system, starting with Drainage Matting being laid down. Drainage Matting creates an inorganic barrier between the new slab and the outside elements while aiding in channeling water to prevent hydrostatic pressure from building up. WaterGuard is installed around the perimeter to capture water and channel it to the new TripleSafe Sump Pump. The TripleSafe Sump Pump is capable of taking all the water and pumping it out of the basement through the new Exterior Buried Discharge Line. The Buried Discharge Line takes the water far from the home where it won’t cause any issues, and with the installed IceGuard, the system is protected against ice build-up, keeping the system running all year, even during freezing winter months. To finish the waterproofing system, the slab will be poured and a SaniDry XP will be installed to keep humidity levels at a safe level. The SaniDry XP drains to the TripleSafe so the homeowner will never have to worry about emptying a bucket of water, and the SaniDry XP can do its job all the time.   Now the homeowner can remodel their basement and be confident that their basement will be dry all the time.
Crawlspace In Long Island Sealed Properly With CleanSpace
Joe from Long Island had a crawlspace that would regularly take on water during rain. This was beginning to cause a smell, which was an obvious sign of mold growth, and Joe needed this the water dealt with. He logged online and found a solution in no time, TC Hafford Basement Systems. After we got the call, we dispatched a representative to inspect the crawlspace and determine the best potential fixes to stop the water leakage; giving Joe a free estimate on how much the repairs would cost. He decided on which fix he wanted and our crew got to work! We began by laying a Drainage Matting around the interior perimeter of the wall/floor joint. This mat will hold back moisture coming in through the joint, allowing it time to drain back out through the floor. We then encapsulated the crawlspace with a CleanSpace Liner. This is a plastic sheet that locks out all water trying to leak in through the walls or floor. Finally, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. This will dry out the air within the crawlspace, maintaining a dry and healthy atmosphere. Now Joe has a dry crawlspace, which will remain dry for years to come.
Flooding Long Island, ME Basement Dried & Protected with WaterGuard Piping
A homeowner that lived in Long Island, ME had recently began to have trouble with water collecting on their concrete basement floor. The water seemed to be leaking in through the foundation below the home, leaving the homeowner unsure how to put an end to the problem. After a search online, they called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems to see if we could help solve their problem. We set them up with a free estimate and went over their options with them. They soon gave us the green light to begin work on waterproofing their flooding basement. Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they got started on the floor of the basement by excavating a shallow trench into the perimeter of the floor. This allowed for WaterGuard piping to be laid down within the floor, surrounding the space. The pipes each have slits along their bottom edges. Buried beneath a layer of loose rocks and concrete, the WaterGuard within the floor will capture any leaking moisture in the future and guide it through the floor to the sump. To handle the removal of the water from the basement, our crew installed a SuperSump pump in the basement floor with the WaterGuard pipes feeding directly into it. The SuperSump can remove water from the home at a rate of 2,650 gallons of water every hour, plenty of power to keep any rainwater at bay. Nearby, an UltraSump backup battery was installed and connected to the SuperSump. This battery will enable the SuperSump to continue to force water out of the home even if a storm knocks out the power in the home. This device will then charge after power is returned. The water leaves the home through a PVC discharge line. Outside, two additions were made to this discharge line to better protect this home from potential water problems. The first was an IceGuard pipe segment placed just beyond where the line exits the side of the home. This pipe has upward facing holes that will stop water trapped in the line by ice or debris from reaching back into the interior of the basement. Lastly, the end of the line was capped with a LawnScape discharge port. This piece has a grate over the end, allowing the water leaving the home to flow freely while holding back debris that might otherwise clog the line. Now that this homeowner has properly installed basement waterproofing, they can use their basement without the need to fear possible water damage. The WaterGuard & SuperSump system will ensure this basement floor remains dry for years to come!
Damp Long Island, ME Crawlspace Dried with SaniDry Installation
Plagued by a damp crawlspace below their home, this Long Island, ME homeowner was looking for a solution to the moisture. After a quick internet search, they ended up on our TC Hafford Basement Systems website. They decided they wanted us to solve their problem and called us to receive their free estimate. They met with our representative and hired us soon after the meeting to have the project scheduled. When our installation crew arrived at the home, they got to work on eliminating the moisture within the space. To do this, a SaniDry XP dehumidifier was installed on the floor of the space. This device will pull in the damp air from around the crawlspace and separate any moisture from it. The now-dry air is then circulated back into the space while the water is passed through some pipes to a Condensate Pump. This will force the water up and out of the home through a discharge line. Now whenever moisture enters the atmosphere of this crawlspace, it will soon be removed from the home through the SaniDry system. Now this homeowner will no longer suffer from the musty smell emanating from the space below their home. The SaniDry XP system will keep this crawlspace moisture-free for years to come!
WaterGuard Protects Farmington, ME Basement From Water Damage
A homeowner in Farmington had a basement which would frequently take on water during heavy rains. This was a problem for the homeowner because he was using this space for storage, and didn’t want his belongings to be damaged by the water. After seeing TC Hafford Basement Systems on his television, this homeowner knew we were exactly the company he needed! He gave us a call and we got working on the basement! We began by digging out the inside perimeter of the basement floor. This allowed us to lay down our special WaterGuard pipe system, which was then covered in loose rocks and cement to hide it beneath the floor without stopping it from working. The WaterGuard pipes will capture water as it travels through the cement, not allowing it to reach the surface. We then installed a SuperSump sump pump with an UltraSump backup battery attached. The water collected by the WaterGuard is guided to this new sump, which pumps the water up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. Finally, on the exterior of the home, we attached an IceGuard pipe to the middle of the discharge line. This IceGuard will allow water to exit the pipe in the event of a blockage lower down the pipe. With these systems in place and working together, this homeowner will no longer need to worry about water finding its way into his basement!
Sump Upgrade Keeps Farmington, ME Basement Water-Free
This homeownr from Farmington, ME had water entering their basement through the concrete foundation itself. They were unsure how to stop the leakages and needed to regularly remove the water themselves. Soon after seeing us on their TV, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems to see what we could do to solve their problem. After they received their free estimate, they hired us to get the job done! When our installation crew arrived at the home, they needed to dig into the basement floor to properly waterproof this basement. A shallow trench was excavated into the perimeter of the concrete floor. Inside this new trench, a WaterGuard piping system was laid down surrounding the basement. Loose rocks and concrete were used to seal the pipes within the floor. The WaterGuard pipes will capture any leaking moisture from now-on through small slits in the bottom edge of the pipes. The water is then guided beneath the floors surface to the sump where it will be removed from the basement. Within the sump, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump can pump at a rate of 2,650 gallons of water per hour, which will ensure this basement isn't overwhelmed by any amount of leakage. An UltraSump backup battery was attached to the SuperSump nearby. This will keep the pump functional even if the home loses power during a heavy storm. The water is forced up and out of the home by the SuperSump where is is carried away from the home. Outside the home, our crew made two final additions to the discharge line before this job was complete. The first was an IceGuard pipe section attached just beyond where the lien exits the home. This piece has special holes built-in that allow for blocked water to escape without causing a backup into the home. Lastly, a LawnScape piece was used to cap the end of the line. This blends the exit into the surrounding lawn without allowing debris to enter the pipe. Now that their basement has been properly waterproofed, this homeowner can make use of the space. The WaterGuard & SuperSump will keep this space dry for the future.
Total Crawl Space Encapsulation in Farmington, Maine
A homeowner in Farmington, Maine, contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems to explore solutions for their crawl space. With a low ceiling height of around four feet and a dirt floor, the space was consistently damp, raising concerns about mold and structural damage. After an on-site assessment, our experts recommended a full encapsulation to address the moisture problem. We installed a CleanSpace liner to seal the space, paired with drainage matting to guide water away from the foundation. To further improve air quality and prevent future dampness, we added a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier on a stand and applied spray foam insulation to create a comprehensive moisture barrier.     The results were immediately apparent. The crawl space became dry, comfortable, and far more functional, giving the homeowner peace of mind about the long-term health of their home. They were highly satisfied with the improvements, recognizing the significant upgrade to their living conditions and home protection.
Cracked Basement Wall in Durham, ME, Fixed With FlexiSpan
A homeowner in Durham noticed a crack in their basement wall, this could lead to potential water leakage. Having done business with us in the past, the homeowner gave TC Hafford Basement Systems a call! We had a representative on site shortly after to give an estimate on the crack repair. Once the homeowner decided, we got to work. The crack was first filled with a sealant. This acts as the first line of defence against water trying to enter the crack, but won’t be enough for a permanent fix. We then laid down a foam matting over the top of the sealant. This foam is finally covered with a layer of sealant. This technique, called FlexiSpan, completely locks out any water trying to enter through the crack. The way the FlexiSpan is layered allows it to be flexible and conform to the crack should it shift at all. Problem solved!
Water Mess in New Vineyard, ME
Homeowners in New Vineyard were troubled with water coming in and flowing across their basement floors as pictured here. We poured a new slab floor to ensure no water was leaking in, as well as drainage matting, CleanSpace Walls, WaterGuard, and a SuperSump pump system. CleanSpace walls carry any moisture down to the WaterGuard, which then channels the water to the SuperSump and away from the home. Our homeowners can enjoy less headaches, and more dry, usable space!
Basement In Lisbon, ME Finished Properly With WaterGuard
A homeowner in Lisbon was looking to have their basement finished to use as a living space. But before they could begin, they needed to do something about their water problem. Water had been leaking into the basement somehow, and gathering in puddles. Seeking a way to resolve this before moving forward, the homeowner soon heard about TC Hafford Basement Systems from a family friend. The homeowner called us right away to set up a meeting to receive a free estimate. After reviewing his options, the homeowner made his selection and we got to work! Our crew started by digging up the inside perimeter of the basement floor. This newly created trench gave us a space to lay down our WaterGuard pipe system. It was then covered over with loose rocks and cement to conceal it without hindering functionality. The WaterGuard captures water as it enters the basement through the walls or floor. This water is then guided to the sump in the basement. Within the sump, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will take the collected water and push it up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. Outside the home, attached to the discharge line, we added an IceGuard filter. This filter will allow water to continue to flow from the basement even if the lower end of the pipe is blocked by debris. With these systems in place, the surface of the basement floor will remain perfectly dry. Now this homeowner can finish his basement with peace of mind, knowing no more water will enter the living space!
