PowerBrace Installation Secures Bowing Albion, ME Barn Wall
After noticing one of the concrete walls of their barn was beginning to bend inward, this Albion, ME homeowner was worried the wall might cave in if left alone. The homeowner searched online for a solution and soon came across TC Hafford Basement Systems. Once the homeowner spoke with our office staff, our sales representative was dispatched to give the homeowner a free estimate. Soon after the representative explained the available options, the homeowner decided to have us solve their problem as soon as possible. As soon as our installation crew arrived at the property, they got started preparing the bowing wall for correction. Sections of the supports along the top-most edge of the wall were trimmed and fitted with several blocks used to hold the Lever Bracket in place. Next, the PowerBrace supports were cut to the proper length to fit the wall and secured to the base of the wall; with several feet between each beam. The PowerBrace beams were then connected to the Lever Brackets attached to the joists above the wall. This bracket can be adjusted, tightening each PowerBrace against the wall, pulling it back into place over time. The PowerBraces will be adjusted periodically to ensure the wall returns to its original position and remains there. Now a collapsing wall is no longer something this homeowner has to worry about. The PowerBrace beams will maintain this wall well into the future.
Dirt Basement In Cambridge Gets Waterproofed With WaterGuard
A homeowner in Cambridge was having trouble with their dirt basement. Water would easily leak in through the soil and flood the space during heavy rains, the space was practically unusable. Needing a way to waterproof their basement, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems after hearing about us from a contractor who had worked on the home. We inspected the basement, and gave the owner a free estimate as to what could be done. They gave us the go ahead and we got started! We began by leveling the floor to make way for concrete to be laid. We then laid down a new slab on the dirt to give the basement a concrete floor. This slab had a WaterGuard pipe system built into it, and would capture water as it tried to leak through, and guide it to the sump. The sump was also built into the new cement, within which we installed a SmartDrain pump. The water brought to this SmartDrain will be pumped up and out of the basement, keeping it off of the basement floor. With this new waterproofed basement floor, this homeowner can now use their basement for any number of things!
Moist Crawlspace in Pittsfield, ME, Dried and Sealed
A homeowner in Pittsfield had moisture gathering in his crawlspace. This was the first time they had noticed the moisture gathering, and they wanted to get it fixed ASAP. The homeowner got online, and searched for a solution. TC Hafford was the solution they decided to go with! After a quick inspection of the crawlspace, our representative recommended options to the homeowner. After the homeowner made their selection, our crew got to work. To help the water stay outside the crawlspace, we laid down a Drainage Matting. This will let any water on the inside flow to the outside. Then the entire crawlspace got encapsulated by CleanSpace Liner. This liner seals out any moisture, maintaining a dry crawlspace. Finally, we placed a SaniDry CX dehumidifier. This will keep the air dry should any moisture still make its way into the crawlspace. Now this homeowner can focus on other things, without needing to worry about their crawlspace.
Nearly Finished Basement In Palermo, ME Waterproofed With WaterGuard
A homeowner in Palermo had been working on finishing his basement, but couldn’t quite complete the project because of water leakage. One corner in particular would allow water to leak in during heavy rains, and the homeowner needed something done about it. Seeking help online, the homeowner soon found TC Hafford Basement Systems. He gave us a call and we had our crew sent over to fix his problem. To begin our work, we needed to dig up a trench surrounding the inside perimeter of the basement floor. Because the water was entering through the cement foundation, we needed to install our WaterGuard system underneath the floor to capture this water. With this system cemented in place, any water trying to come in through the foundation would be redirected to the sump in the basement. Within the sump, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will force any collected water up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. Finally, on the exterior of the home, we attached an IceGuard filter to the discharge line. This specially designed pipe will allow water to continue to flow from the line, even if the lower end is blocked by any debris. Now this homeowner can easily finish his basement with these waterproofing systems in place!
Vapor Barrier Installation Keeps Palermo, ME Crawlspace Water-Free
A homeowner living in Palermo, ME had been living with a damp crawlspace for some time. Unsure how to keep the moisture from rainfall out themselves, there wasn't much they could do. But when they were told about TC Hafford Basement Systems by a relative, they called us soon after and we set them up with a free estimate! They quickly gave us the go-ahead to get the job done. As soon as our crew arrived at the home they were able to get started waterproofing this crawlspace right away. To allow any water blocked by the vapor barrier, a Drainage Matting was installed across the floor of the space. This mat sits just above the floor and allows water trapped below it to flow towards the perimeter of the crawlspace where it will drain away. Next, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the interior of the space. The CleanSpace forms a water-tight seal, locking any moisture leaking into the crawlspace on the exterior of the barrier. With thie vapor barrier in place, any moisture problems, such as a damp smell will no longer negatively affect this homeowner.
Troublesome Leak in Palermo, ME Basement Sealed with FlexiSpan Seal
This homeowner living in Palermo, ME had recently begun to go through the process of turning their basement into a finished space. But a pesky crack along one of the concrete walls was leaking water into the space, which was an immediate problem. After hearing about TC Hafford Basement Systems from a friend, the homeowner called us right away to set up a free estimate. Our salesperson visited the home to take a look and talk over the options with the homeowner. They soon agreed to what work they wanted done and we got started! When our installation crew arrived at the home, they got started on fixing this crack with a FlexiSpan seal by brushing dust and debris away from the crack with a coarse brush. Next, a primary sealant layer was applied within and slightly around the crack. This layer was then covered by a foam matting running the length of the crack. Using a second layer of sealant to cover over the foam and lock this structure in place against the crack completes the FlexiSpan installation. This new seal will lock out moisture that would have previously leaked into the basement with ease. The foam core within the FlexiSpan gives the seal the flexibility the name suggests, allowing it to stay over the crack if the wall were to shift at all. Now that the leaking problem has been resolved, this homeowner can move forward with their initial plans! The FlexiSpan seal will ensure this basement stays water-free for years to come.
Crawlspace In Bremen, ME Sealed Off From The Elements With CleanSpace
A homeowner in Bremen was looking to finish their basement, but water would leak in through the floors of both the basement and the attached crawlspace. This was a problem that needed to be addressed before any progress could be made in finishing the basement. After the homeowner saw an ad for TC Hafford Basement Systems on their television, they knew they found the solution to their problem. They gave us a call and we got to work! We got to work by first taking care of the wet crawlspace. We covered the interior perimeter of the crawlspace with a Drainage Matting. This will hold any water back from the interior of the crawlspace. We then encapsulated the entire crawlspace with a CleanSpace Liner. This liner will lock out any moisture from entering the crawlspace by covering the entirety of the walls and floor. The final step of the waterproofing process was laying down ThermalDry Flooring tiles on the basement floor. These are insulated tiles which will keep the water from reaching the surface; as well as maintaining a relatively warm floor temperature compared to that of a concrete floor. Now this homeowner can finish their basement without concern for water damage!
Bremen, ME Basement Kept Water-Free with WaterGuard Installation
Even with a concrete foundation below their home, this Bremen, ME homeowner would still find moisture collecting in their basement. This dampness was beginning to become a problem for the homeowner, so they made sure to write down our number at TC Hafford the next time they saw our ad on TV. After speaking with our office staff, the homeowner was set up with a free estimate to inform them of their options. They soon gave us the green light to get started on waterproofing their basement! As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home, their first task was to excavate a shallow trench into the perimeter of the concrete floor. Inside this, a track of WaterGuard piping was laid, surrounding the floor. These pipes, buried below a layer of loose rocks and fresh concrete, will act to capture leaking moisture in the future. Once it traps water through slits along the lower edge of each pipe, the water is guided through the WaterGuard to the sump where our crew installed a SuperSump pump. This device will force the collected water up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The water then travels away from the home a distance before being released onto the lawn to harmlessly drain away into the ground. Now that their basement floor has proper waterproofing, this homeowner will no longer find their basement to be constantly damp. The WaterGuard piping will keep the leaking water from reaching the surface of the floor in the future!
Bremen, ME Crawlspace Died & Protected with SaniDry Installation
Living in Bremen, ME, this homeowner had recently noticed a mold problem developing in the joists of their crawlspace after investigating a musty smell coming from below their home. Not sure how to deal with this problem on their own, the homeowner looked online for a solution, discovering TC Hafford Basement Systems in the process. They called our office in Wells, ME and we set them up with an appointment for a free estimate. After hearing what we could do to eliminate their moisture problem, the homeowner gave us the go ahead to begin work on the solution. When our installation crew began work on the crawlspace, their first goal was to provide a proper vapor barrier to keep out future leaks. This started with a Drainage Matting being laid across the floor of the space. This mat sits just off the surface and creates pathways for any blocked water to follow, to prevent pooling and enable easy draining. Next, a CleanSpace Liner was used to encapsulate the crawlspace. Completing the vapor barrier, this liner covers the walls and floor of the space with a water-tight seal, preventing any more outside moisture from entering the crawlspace from outside the home. To eliminate the existing moisture problem within the crawlspace, a SaniDry CX dehumidifier was installed. Nearby, a SmartDrain system was installed in the floor of the crawlspace, with the SaniDry connected via piping. Now the SaniDry will remove the moisture from the air of the crawlspace while passing any collected water directly to the drain to escape the home without needing to wait for the water to drain back through the ground. The water then flows away from the home through a PVC discharge line. With these improvements made to their crawlspace, this homeowner will soon notice their mold problem dissipate along with any musty smells that come with it. The SaniDry & CleanSpace integration will keep this crawlspace healthy and dry for years to come!
A More Energy Efficient Home in Bremen, ME
A previous Basement Systems customer recently purchased this Bremen, ME, home, and once they moved in and saw their basement, they knew they wanted to protect their home, so they called TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. Dr. Energy Saver System Design Specialist Nima Farshid met with the homeowner and worked with them to design a system that would waterproof the basement and create a more energy-efficient space while they were at it. Step One: Waterproofing The homeowner wanted the basement to be dry all of the time, so they did not want to cut any corners. WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter of the basement to collect and channel water. In high-traffic areas such as entrances and the oil tank, TrenchDrain was installed and connected to the WaterGuard. The water has to go somewhere, so the homeowner chose a SuperSump for the job. The SuperSump takes the water and pumps it through an Exterior Buried Discharge line, which gets the water far away from the home. To prevent ice buildup and keep the system running at 100% during the winter months, IceGuard was installed on the Discharge line. CleanSpace Wall System was installed along the walls and attached to the WaterGuard. CleanSpace Wall System acts as a vapor barrier and channels any moisture coming in from the cinderblock wall to the WaterGuard. Finishing out the waterproofing system was the installation of a SaniDry XP Dehumidifier to keep the humidity in the basement at a safe level. The Sani Dry XP drains directly to the SuperSump, so the homeowner never has to worry about emptying a bucket of water, and their basement will always be protected against high moisture. Step Two: Creating a More Energy-Efficient Space It’s no secret that heating and cooling a home can be expensive. Wanting to save money on their energy bill and create a more comfortable home, the homeowner opted for SprayFoam insulation. Closed-cell SprayFoam was installed along the basement walls to trap in heat during the winter and prevent the homeowner from having to constantly adjust their thermostat throughout the day. Now the homeowner not only has a more comfortable home, but their new home is protected against water and moisture. Mold will be prevented from growing, keeping their family healthy, and their basement is set up to be used however the homeowner would like, without the risk of their belongings being damaged.
