This began with a Drainage Matting being laid across the floor of the crawlspace, resting on built in supports and sitting just off the surface of the floor. This mat creates channels between itself and the floor that any blocked water will follow before draining back down into the ground. Next, to complete the vapor barrier, a CleanSpace liner was used to cover all of the walls as well as the floor of the crawlspace. This liner will lock out any leaking moisture, forcing it down through the Drainage Mat to exit the space through the ground. To eliminate the existing moisture problem below the home, a SaniDry CX dehumidifier was then installed on the floor of the crawlspace alongside a Condensate Pump. The SaniDry will now act to pull in the surrounding damp air, separating any moisture from what it collects. While the dried air is circulated back into the crawlspace, the water travels through piping to the pump. Here, the water is forced out of the home through a discharge line, where it will be deposited onto the ground a small distance from the home. This process will continue until the crawlspace air is back to being dry and healthy. These measures will now maintain a dry crawlspace for this property owner, meaning no more musty smells! A customer in Bristol contacted us one day to get more work done. We had previously installed a sump system in his basement, but he was looking for a more encompassing system. This homeowner wanted a WaterGuard system. We got to work by digging out the perimeter of the basement. This trench was where the WaterGuard piping would go. Once the perimeter was fully removed, we inserted the WaterGuard and poured fresh cement over it to lock it into place. This piping will catch water as it comes into the basement through either the walls or the floors. We then installed a second sump pump, a SuperSump. They needed a way to keep water from flooding their basement during heavy rainfall and they searched online to find the solution to their problem. When our installation crew arrived at the home to get started, they began by excavating a shallow trench into the perimeter of the concrete basement floor. This trench would allow our crew to install WaterGuard piping within the outer edge of this floor. Now, after being buried below fresh concrete, the WaterGuard piping will capture water as it leaks through the foundation. The water enters the WaterGuard through small slits along the bottom edge of each pipe. Once trapped, the collected water is passed to a SuperSump installed in the floor. This device will pump the water up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. Outside the home, two additions were made to the discharge line before we were finished waterproofing this basement. The first addition was an IceGuard pipe section attached just beyond where the line leaves the home. The IceGuard has upward facing holes built in that do not impede normal water flow. These holes only allow for trapped water to escape, when blocked by ice or other debris. This will protect the basement from flooding due to a blockage in the discharge line. Finally, a LawnScape discharge port was attached to the end of the line. Here, the water will flow out onto the lawn through a grate that will keep most debris from entering the line. With everything in place, this homeowner will no longer suffer from a wet basement! They can now make use of the space without moisture damaging their belongings.

To begin, we filled the crack with a primary layer of sealant. This would act as the first line of defense against moisture, but wouldn’t quite be enough on its own. We then laid a foam matting over the top of the sealant, to act as a backbone for the structure, giving it its flexibility, while also holding it all together. Finally, we applied another layer of sealant over the foam matting. This finished the FlexiSpan. These layers working together will not only shift and contort to stay in place on top of the crack, but they will hold back any moisture that would have otherwise found its way through the crack. Now Eric will no longer be caused any trouble by this large crack in his wall.

This water is then guided to the SuperSump sump pump we installed in the basement floor. This pump will then force the water up and out of the home without the water ever reaching the floors surface. Outside the home, two attachments were added to the discharge line that carried the water away from the home. The first was an IceGuard pipe segment. This piece, attached just beyond where the line exits the home, has special holes built-in that only allow blocked water to escape. This protects the basement from flooding if ice were to block the discharge line. Finally, a LawnScape discharge port was used to cap the end of the line. This piece will blend the end of the port into the lawn while the grate will keep out debris. The less debris in the discharge line, the less chances for blockages to form. Now that this couple has a properly waterproofed basement, they can finally make use of the space without the fear of water damage. After noticing one of the concrete walls of their barn was beginning to bend inward, this Albion, ME homeowner was worried the wall might cave in if left alone. Sections of the supports along the top-most edge of the wall were trimmed and fitted with several blocks used to hold the Lever Bracket in place. Next, the PowerBrace supports were cut to the proper length to fit the wall and secured to the base of the wall; with several feet between each beam. The PowerBrace beams were then connected to the Lever Brackets attached to the joists above the wall. This bracket can be adjusted, tightening each PowerBrace against the wall, pulling it back into place over time. The PowerBraces will be adjusted periodically to ensure the wall returns to its original position and remains there. Now a collapsing wall is no longer something this homeowner has to worry about. The PowerBrace beams will maintain this wall well into the future.

The sump was also built into the new cement, within which we installed a SmartDrain pump. The water brought to this SmartDrain will be pumped up and out of the basement, keeping it off of the basement floor.
