When this homeowner living in Walpole, ME began having water problems below their home, they were sure their sump pump would take care of it. But with the water gathering in puddles across the floor, the homeowner found themselves having to sweep the water over to the sump in order for it to be pumped out. To solve this problem, they took to the internet and soon discovered TC Hafford Basement Systems. They called us to see what we could offer them, and we set them up with their free estimate. When they knew we could solve their problem, they hired us to get the job done. As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home, they got started on the concrete floor by excavating a shallow trench into the perimeter. Here, WaterGuard piping was laid, surrounding the basement. These pipes have special slits along their bottom-edges, to trap leaking moisture before it reaches the surface of the floor. After installation, they are buried below a layer of loose rocks and then concrete to seal them within the floor without hindering their function. The water trapped within the WaterGuard is then guided below the floor directly to the sump where it will be removed from the home without first building up on the floor of the basement. With this new addition to their basement, the gathering water on this homeowner’s basement floor will become a thing of the past. The WaterGuard piping will keep this floor water-free for years to come!

A homeowner in Hartland noticed he had a crack in the wall of his basement. This crack in the foundation was a highway for water from the surrounding soil to enter into the basement through. After not being able to stop this water himself, the homeowner searched online for a solution. He soon found TC Hafford Basement Systems and contacted us to set up a meeting. He received his free estimate and then we got to work! To seal the crack, we needed to apply FlexiSpan; A flexible structure able to hold back moisture while adhering to the crack. We began by filling the crack with a layer of sealant. This primary layer is then covered over with a foam matting. This mat gives the structure its flexibility. Finally, we applied another layer of sealant over the top of the matting. This completes the FlexiSpan, locking out any moisture. The flexibility of this seal will allow the FlexiSpan to bend, and stay over the crack should the basement wall move in any wall. With FlexiSpan in place, this homeowner has a dry basement floor again; Which will hopefully stay that way!

System Design Specialist Mark S. helped new homeowners to waterproof their 100 year old basement. It previously had dirt floors allowing water to leak right in any time it rained. We poured a new slab floor with WaterGuard perimeter drainage system. WaterGuard connects to the TripleSafe sump pump to pump the water away from the home through an exterior buried discharge line. A SaniDry Sedona helps control the humidity in the space by removing over 100 pints of water from the air per day. The basement has been totally transformed to stay dry all the time!

System Design Specialist Mark S. met with buyers under contract on this Canaan, Maine home. One foundation wall was severely shifting with cinder blocks bowing out of place. Hydrostatic pressure from water in the ground pushing against the wall was causing it to shift and move. Mark proposed installing StableLock Wall system, which involves pouring a new concrete wall against the failing wall. Our patented system with specialized bracing prevents the old wall from any further movement without having the cost of major excavation. 

Homeowners reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate to repair their leaking basement. System Design Specialist Alan N. met with the homeowners who explained they often had leaking at the cove joint, where the foundation walls meet the floor. We installed a combination of WaterGuard perimeter drainage and TrenchDrain around the entire basement. WaterGuared is placed along the cove joint, and TrenchDrain helps in areas where there may be a higher capacity, such as near units that may condensate. A TripleSafe sump pump was also added, connecting to the WaterGuard to capture the moisture and pump it away from the home. The TripleSafe features two Zoeller pumps, and a third battery backup pump that keeps the system operating even if the home loses power.

A homeowner in South China was having moisture gather in their basement. This moisture could easily lead to the growth of mold. The homeowner took to the internet for a solution. TC Hafford got the call and sent a team out to fix the problem! After inspecting the basement, the optimal solution was to install a dehumidifier. The homeowner chose to go with a SaniDry XP. This dehumidifier will now keep the homeowners basement dry and moisture free!

When it rains, it puddles, but unfortunately, it puddles in this South China, ME homeowner’s basement as well as their driveway. Looking to keep the rain outside, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate to see what we could do about their water problems. System Design Specialist Adam Hamm drove out to meet the homeowner and work with them to design a waterproofing system that would solve their troubles. Needing to handle ground and rainwater, WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter of the slab to channel the water. The water needs a place to go, so a TripleSafe Sump Pump was installed at the lowest point and connected to the WaterGuard to pump the water out of the basement and through a Buried Discharge Line. The Buried Discharge Line takes the water far from the home where it can’t cause any trouble, and to prevent ice buildup from hindering the system during the winter months, IceGuard was installed. To finish up the system, the old sump hole was filled in and capped, and now the homeowner no longer has to deal with water in their basement.

A resident of the town of Clinton had noticed a problem forming in their basement. It was a crack in the wall. This crack could lead to several issues in the future, such as water gathering on the floor, or mold growing from moisture in the air. The homeowner saw an ad on TV for TC Hafford and called us immediately. We then sent out a crew to get to work fixing the crack. To start the solution, we filled the crack with sealant. This acts as the first line of defense against moisture. Then a foam pad is laid over the top of this sealant, to hold it in place and to act as a secondary barrier. Finally a second layer of sealant is laid on top of the foam, to completely seal any moisture out of the basement. This layered system, know as FlexiSpan is capable of stretching and shifting. Should the crack manipulate at all, the FlexiSpan should stay snug to the crack, locking out water without fail.

A homeowner in China Village owned an exceptionally old home, with a dirt basement. This basement was never given a proper vapor barrier, and would regularly become damp, or gather pools of water. The homeowner wanted to have this put to an end, and sought help online. They soon found TC Hafford Basement Systems and gave us a call. We gave the homeowner a free estimate, and then we got to work! We began work on the basement by grading the floor, to level out the surface. We then installed a SuperSump sump pump to pump out any water gathering underneath the vapor barrier. Attached to the discharge line coming from the pump, we added an IceGuard piece on the exterior of the home. This piece is designed so that should the lower end of the pipe become blocked, the water can still escape. Next, we lined the wall/floor joint around the basement perimeter with a Drainage Matting. This matting is intended to hold the water back, allowing it time to drain back into the dirt. Finally, we encapsulated the entire space with a CleanSpace Liner. This lining is made of a thin plastic, and covers all of the walls, supports, and the floor of the basement. The CleanSpace will hold back any moisture trying to reach the center of the space, forcing it to either drain away into the soil, or gather within the sump to be pumped out. Now with a properly installed vapor barrier, this homeowner will no longer experience any issues with water gathering within their basement.

A homeowner in Pemquid was in dire need of some basement waterproofing. He would frequently gather pools of water in his basement during rain, and this needed to end. Not long after the homeowner made the decision to fix their basement, they saw an ad on their Television for TC Hafford Basement Systems, and knew we were the ones for the job! They contacted us, received a free estimate, and we got to work. We started by digging a trench into the cement floor around the inside perimeter of the basement. This allowed us to lay down a WaterGuard piping system. This system will collect the water as it enters the basement and guide it to the sump. In the sump, we installed a SuperSump sump pump to pump the water up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. This combination will maintain a dry basement, even in the heaviest rains. Making water damage a thing of the past for this homeowner!
