A homeowner in Detroit, Maine was experiencing trouble with their basement. Water was coming in through the walls of the basement, straight through the foundation. Fearing water damage to their property, the homeowner got online to find for a solution. They soon came across TC Hafford Basement Systems, and knew we could handle their waterproofing needs. They had a meeting with one of our representatives, and then we got to work! To begin, we excavated the interior perimeter of the basement floor. This gave us a trench in which to lay down our WaterGuard piping system. Which was then covered over with loose rocks and cement to conceal it without hindering functionality. The WaterGuard would capture the water as it traveled through the concrete, guiding it out of the basement. Next, we covered the walls of the basement with BrightWall panels. These hard-plastic panels will collect the moisture as it comes in through the walls, funneling it down to the WaterGuard pipes below as it flows. With these two products working in tandem, this basement floor won’t see any pooled up water in the future!

A homeowner in Monhegan was living with an unpleasant smell coming from his crawlspace for years. This problem started because of an improperly built moisture barrier. The homeowner needed a way to fix this without digging up the area surrounding his crawlspace, so he got online and looked around. He soon found TC Hafford Basement Systems and gave us a call. Next, we covered the crawlspace walls and floor with a CleanSpace Liner. This liner holds back any moisture trying to enter the crawlspace through the walls or floor. Finally, we installed a SaniDry CX Dehumidifier. This will maintain a completely dry atmosphere within the crawlspace, even if a small amount of moisture were to make it into the air. Now, with a dry crawlspace, this homeowner no longer has a smell bothering him!

Experiencing symptoms of a wet crawlspace, this homeowner needed a way to keep the water at bay. After hearing about TC Hafford Basement Systems from an acquaintance, they called us to receive their free estimate. The homeowner soon had a meeting with our sales representative where they were given a detailed explanation of the process we would use to waterproof the space below their home. The homeowner gave us the green light and our crew was able to begin work on the crawlspace. Upon starting work in the crawlspace, our crew first installed a proper vapor barrier to keep most of the moisture from entering the space to begin with. This barrier was composed of a Drainage Matting to allow the water to easily flow back out of the crawlspace as well as a CleanSpace liner to lock the moisture on the exterior of the new barrier. Atop this liner, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed. This device will pull in the damp air still within the crawlspace and separate any moisture from it. The now-dry air is circulated back throughout the crawlspace while the collected water is forced out of the home through a pump. With these additions to their crawlspace, this homeowner will no longer suffer from the musty smells and damp atmosphere caused by their crawlspace. A homeowner in Friendship, ME needed to get her basement and crawlspace waterproofed before she could finish her basement. This would be a rather large undertaking. After a friend told her about TC Hafford Basement Systems, she made a call to set up a meeting. After meeting with one of our representatives and receiving an estimate, she chose what work she wanted done. We dispatched our crew to the house and got to work! We started with the crawlspace, lining the inside perimeter with a Drainage Matting. This is then covered with a CleanSpace Liner. This liner covers the entire crawlspace, save for the ceiling. Locking out all moisture that might otherwise has leaked into the crawlspace. Next, we excavated the interior perimeter of the basement to allow for the installation of a WaterGuard system. This system collects water as it enters the basement through the walls or floor. Guiding it toward the sump location. This WaterGuard system is then covered over with a fresh layer of cement to hide it within the basement floor. We capped off the WaterGuard pipes with a SmartSump sump pump to remove the water from the basement. Following the PVC discharge pipe out of the basement, we attached an IceGuard on the outside of the home. This is a special piece of pipe on a discharge line that will allow the evacuated water to continue to flow should the lower portion of the pipe become blocked by ice or debris. Finally, we installed a SaniDry CX dehumidifier. This will guarantee the homeowner maintains a dry basement even if moisture makes it into the air.

There was nothing friendly about the basement we helped in Friendship, Maine. The owners reported the space was consistently damp and musty with a foul smell. To waterproof the basement, we installed WaterGuard perimeter drainage system and a TripleSafe sump pump. Water is captured in the WaterGuard system and channeled to the TripleSafe sump pump, which pumps it away from the home through an exterior buried discharge line. The TripleSafe system has two Zoeller pumps, and a third battery backup pump to keep it running in a power outage. Not pictured, we also installed a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to control the moisture in the basement, as well as remove any odors.

A homeowner that lived in Union, ME had been living with a slight moisture problem in their basement. Three cracks across the walls in their basement were allowing water from outside to easily leak in. To keep these cracks from leaking water in the future, our installation crew utilized FlexiSpan to seal them for good. This began with the cracks being brushed clear by a coarse brush to help the sealant hold better. An initial layer of sealant was then applied to the cracks. To give the seals some flexibility and structure, foam mats were then placed over the sealant along the length of the cracks. Finally, another layer of sealant was applied over the top of the foam to complete the FlexiSpan seals. These FlexiSpan seals will keep water out even if the cracks contort over time. This homeowner now can rest assured these cracks are no longer a source of a moisture problem beneath their home. Now that they've been properly sealed they should never leak again!

The first thing that needed to be done was digging up the interior perimeter of the basement. This trench made it possible to lay a WaterGuard pipe system. This pipe will capture the water entering trough the walls or for before it makes it to the surface. The water is then directed to the sump in the basement. Here we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will take the water from the pipe and force it up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. On the exterior of the home, we attached an IceGuard piece to the PVC line. This is a specialized pipe that allows the water coming from the sumo to exit the pipe should the lower end of the discharge line become blocker by ice or other debris. These additions will keep this homeowner’s basement mold free for many years to come!  

Troy, ME homeowners wanted help waterproofing their basement after noticing they could feel water squishing under their floors after each rain. The TripleSafe has two Zoeller pumps so there is a back up in case of pump failure, as well as a battery back up to protect against power loss.
