WaterGuard Saves Bass Harbor, ME Basement From Flooding
A homeowner in Bass Harbor had a problem with water leaking into his basement. This water would gather into pools, and then begin to flood the basement. Needing the basement space for storage, the homeowner required an immediate fix for this problem, before water damage ruined their belongings. After a quick search on the internet, the homeowner found TC Hafford Basement Systems. We received the call and dispatched a representative to inspect the basement, then give a free estimate to the homeowner. They decided on what options worked best for them, and we started work! We began by digging up the interior perimeter of the basement floor. This gave us a trench to lay down our WaterGuard pipe system. These pipes are then covered over with loose rocks and cement to home it in place. It will then capture water as it tries to enter the basement through the walls or floor. Next, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This will take the water collected in the WaterGuard pipes and force it up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. Once outside the house, we attached an IceGuard section to the discharge line. This will allow water to continue to flow should the lower end of the discharge line become blocked by ice or other debris. Now this homeowner can rest assured their belonging will no longer be at risk of water damage, thanks to WaterGuard!
Damp Bass Harbor, ME Crawlspace Air Dried with SaniDry Installation
This homeowner living in Bass Harbor, ME had recently noticed a musty smell beginning to take root in their crawlspace. The smell was a sign of a moisture problem in the space, and this homeowner knew just who to call. Having used our services before, they called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems to set up a free estimate. After they met with our sales representative, they were ready to move forward with the installation right away. Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they got started on the crawlspace right away. To eliminate the moisture in the air and take care of the musty smell problem bothering the homeowner, a SaniDry XP dehumidifier was installed. The SaniDry will dry the space by pulling in the damp air surrounding itself and separating the water from the air. The newly dried air is then circulated back into the space, cycling more damp air towards the intake until the space is filled with dry air once again. The collected water is then fed through some piping to the sump in the basement. Here it is forced out of the home through a PVC discharge line. Now this homeowner should notice the musty smell dissipate along with the moisture problem. The SaniDry XP dehumidifier will ensure the air in this space stays dry and healthy for years into the future.
Damp Crawlspace In Southwest Harbor, ME Sealed With CleanSpace
A homeowner in Southwest Harbor owned a home with a damp crawlspace. The space would usually take on water during rain, and then the water would persist within the space for several days afterword. This created a very moist atmosphere, the perfect environment for mold growth. Asking around for potential solutions, the homeowner was quickly referred to TC Hafford Basement Systems. They called us right away and we were on the job! To begin, we laid a Drainage Matting along the wall/floor joint surrounding the crawlspace. This mat will hold back some of the moisture entering through the soil, giving it time to drain back out. We then encapsulated the crawlspace with a CleanSpace Liner. CleanSpace is a thin plastic sheet that covers the floor, and all of the walls within the crawlspace to lock out any water that would have otherwise leaked in. With these two barriers in place, moisture will no longer be able to access this crawlspace; Protecting this homeowner from any problems involving mold, or water damage.
Sump Upgrade Keeps Southwest Harbor, ME Basement Water-Free
A homeowner living in Southwest Harbor, ME was having some water troubles in their basement. Water would gather across the surface of the basement floor if too much water entered the space for their sump to handle. Needing this water problem dealt with as soon as possible, the homeowner searched online for a solution. They soon discovered TC Hafford Basement Systems and called us right away to set up their free estimate. They liked the sound of what we could get done in the space and hired us to get started! When our installation crew arrived at the home they began by installing a SuperSump sump pump within the existing sump pit; making some minor adjustments to the size of the hole. The SuperSump will now take in water trying to gather on this basement floor and pump it out of the home through a discharge line. An UltraSump backup battery was attached to a nearby wall and connected to the SuperSump. The UltraSump will allow the SuperSump to remain operational during any power outages that would otherwise impair the system. Outside the home, two additions were made to the discharge line that carries the water away from the home. An IceGuard pipe segment was attached to the line just beyond where it exits the home. The IceGuard will protect the home against any ice or debris blocking the lower end of the line. Any water trapped by a blockage is able to escape the line through holes in the IceGuard piece. Finally, a LawnScape cap piece was used to end the line. This piece has a grate over the end so that the water can flow onto the lawn while outside debris is kept from entering the pipe. Now that they have a proper sump system in place, this homeowner will no longer need to worry about finding a flooded basement during heavy rainfall. The SuperSump & UltraSump combination will ensure this basement floor stays dry for years to come!

After discovering TC Hafford Basement Systems, they gave us a call to receive a free estimate on possible solutions. They soon met with our sales representative and agreed to have our crew take care of the crack in their basement wall. When our installation crew arrived at the home, they were tasked with sealing this crack with a three-part FlexiSpan seal. To prep the crack for sealant, a coarse brush was used to clear the crack of debris. The fist layer of sealant was then applied within the crack. This layer was covered by a foam mat that would become the core of the finished seal. Finally, a second layer of sealant was laid over the top of the crack, locking the FlexiSpan against the wall and keeping out any future leakages. The foam core within the FlexiSpan, as the name suggests, will allow the seal to adjust to any slight changes in the overall shape of the crack, should the wall shift at all. Wet Crawl Space in Bar Harbor, ME
Moisture has wreaked havoc on this Bar Harbor, ME, crawl space, and the homeowner couldn’t let the issues continue, so they booked a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems. System Design Craig Ziegenbein worked with the homeowner to design a system that would seal their crawl space and keep humidity from causing damage and rotting out the wood. CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was first installed to encapsulate the area and create a barrier between the outside elements and the crawl space. Drainage Matting is a durable, dimpled matting that creates a channel that allows ground water to flow to the sump pump and elevates the CleanSpace to protect it. CleanSpace is an inorganic vapor barrier that gets attached to the walls to seal the crawl space from moisture and small critters. An UltraSump was installed to take the water from the area and pump it away from the home through a new Exterior Buried Discharge line. The Discharge line and the sump system are protected from freezing during the winter with the installation of IceGuard. To finish the encapsulation system, the old and rotting crawl space entrance cover was replaced with a new EverLast Access Panel that keeps air and moisture from coming into the crawl space. Now the homeowner is happy being able to use their crawl space for storage with moisture no longer affecting the health of their home.
Wet Basement In Northeast Harbor, ME Sealed From Water With WaterGuard
A business owner in Northeast Harbor was having trouble with water gathering in their basement, and damaging supplies. This needed to stop as soon as possible, so they looked around for solutions. Soon they heard about TC Hafford Basement Systems from a satisfied previous customer, and gave us a call. We had a representative dispatched to the business to inspect the basement and give a free estimate. Shortly after the business owner decided on what work they wanted done, we began the fix! To allow for the emplacement of our WaterGuard system, we needed to begin by excavating the interior perimeter of the basement floor. Once we got the WaterGuard in place, it was layered over with loose rocks and cement. This allowed the WaterGuard to still function normally while remaining hidden beneath the floor. The WaterGuard will capture water as it enters through the walls or floor and guide it to the sump. In the sump, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will take the collected water and push it up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. On the exterior of the business, we attached an IceGuard filter to the discharge line. This will guarantee water will continue to flow even if the lower end of the pipe becomes blocked by ice or other debris. Now this business owner can conduct business normally without the need to worry about their supplies being damaged by water.
