Basement Built in 1939 Cracked & Bowing in Carroll Plantation, ME
Homeowners in Carroll Plantation, ME have a home built in 1939 and realized a foundation wall was cracking and bowing, allowing water into the basement. To waterproof the area we installed WaterGuard around the perimeter, a drainage system that captures water and channels it to the TripleSafe sump pump. The TripleSafe sump pump removes water away from the home through an exterior buried discharge line. A SaniDry Sedona high efficiency air system controls the humidity in the basement and filters dust and mold spores from the air. The SaniDry is connected to the TripleSafe so the homeowners do not have to empty buckets of water. Lastly, we installed PowerBraces on the failing foundation wall to help straighten the wall, stop further shifting, and keep the home structurally sound.
Wet Basement In Caribou, ME Kept Dry With WaterGuard
A homeowner in Caribou was experiencing trouble with water leaking into their basement. This problem needed to be resolved immediately, because the homeowner wanted to finish their basement in the near future. Although they wouldn’t be able to finish their basement with regular flooding, they knew they could fix this problem. After a quick internet search, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems to set up a free estimate. They received their free estimate, and our crew got to work! We began by digging a trench around the inside perimeter of the basement floor. This enabled us to lay our WaterGuard pipe system down within the floor. This was then covered over with loose rocks and cement to hide it under the floor without hindering functionality. This WaterGuard will capture any water trying to enter through the walls or floor, guiding it out of the basement. We then covered the walls of the basement with BrightWalls. These are solid plastic panels that hold back water coming in through the upper side of the walls. This water is then funneled to the WaterGuard, where it exits the basement. With these two systems in place, the homeowner can finish their basement without fear. Water damage would not be an issue in the future of this homeowner’s basement!
Water Issues in Caribou Basement
The Caribou, ME homeowner had a nicely finished basement that was being damaged from water leaking in. They called TC Hafford Basement Systems for help with repairs. They met with System Design Specialist Stacy H. who helped identify a plan for relief.   We installed a SuperSump Plus system, along with WaterGuard and IceGuard.   The SuperSump Plus pumps the water through an Exterior Buried Discharge line that takes it far from the home. The Discharge line is protected against ice buildup during the winter months with the installation of IceGuard. Water was leaking in around the perimeter of the basement, so WaterGuard was installed to catch the water and channel it to the SuperSump. Now that the basement is waterproofed, the homeowner can have a nice and dry usable finished basement again!
Moist Basement Air In Winter Harbor, ME Dried Out With SaniDry
A homeowner in Winter Harbor had a basement which would take on a significant amount of airborne moisture during rains. This left the basement smelly extremely musty, so much so that it would propagate throughout the home. The homeowner got online to find a solution, and after a quick Google search, they found TC Hafford Basement Systems. Soon after being contacted, we had a representative take a look at the basement to give the free estimate; then we got to work! To prevent moisture buildup in the air, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. This dehumidifier will take in the surrounding moist air, dry it out, and push it out into the basement. This new flow of air will circulate other moist air back towards the SaniDry to be dried, continuing the cycle until the basement air is moisture free. The dry conditions in the basement will eliminate the musty smell throughout the home, and dramatically reduce the chance for mold to grow within the basement. Now these homeowners no longer need to deal with a bad smell, with their dry basement air!
CleanSpace Locks Moisture Out Of Gouldsboro, ME Basement
A homeowner in Gouldsboro had a basement prone to leaks. During heavy rains, water would come in through one corner of his dirt basement and cover the floor. This was a great way to grow a mold problem, or sustain water damage to the home. Needing professional help, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems after hearing about us from a family friend. We had a representative inspect the space, then our crew got to work! This homeowner needed a proper vapor barrier, so we began by lining the inside perimeter of the basement with a Drainage Matting. This will hold back a portion of the moisture entering through the walls and allow it to drain back out through the floor. We then covered the basement in a CleanSpace Liner. This liner covers everything except for the ceiling, holding back any moisture that would otherwise have flooded the basement. Finally, we installed SaniDry XP dehumidifier. The SaniDry will take in the surrounding air, remove any moisture, and push the air our into the far reaches of the basement. This creates a loop where the dry air forces more moist air back towards the SaniDry until all of the air has been dehumidified. Now that TC Hafford Basement Systems have given this basement a proper vapor barrier, this homeowner shouldn’t need to worry about any form of water damage!
Wet Basement in Gouldsboro, ME Waterproofed with WaterGuard Piping
This homeowner living in Gouldsboro, ME was having trouble keeping water off their basement floor. Even with a concrete foundation, rainwater would still somehow enter the basement and gather across the floor. Looking to have these damp conditions dealt with for good, the homeowner searched online for a solution. Once they discovered TC Hafford Basement Systems they called us right away to set up their free estimate. After hearing their options, the homeowner hired us to get the job done! When our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the floor of this basement right away. First, a shallow trench was excavated into the perimeter of the concrete floor. Within this new trench, WaterGuard piping was laid, surrounding the basement. These pipes were then buried beneath a layer of rocks and a coat of fresh concrete. This will conceal the pipes without hindering their function. The bottom edge of each pipe has a small slit that allows any leaking moisture to be absorbed into the WaterGuard. This water is then guided beneath the surface of the floor directly to the sump to be removed from the home. Within the sump, we installed a TripleSafe pump system. This device houses three pumps, each activating in turn to keep this basement completely water-free. The first and second pumps are both utilized to handle the bulk of the water-removal, with the secondary pump only activating when the primary pump cannot handle the amount of water needing to be pumped from the home. The third pump is a battery-operated backup pump. This will keep the basement dry even if the home was to lose power. All of the water being pumped out of the home by the TripleSafe follows a PVC discharge line. With these additions to their basement, this homeowner will no longer need to get involved with removing any water from below their home. The WaterGuard piping and TripleSafe system will ensure this basement floor remains dry.
SmartSump Installation Protects Gouldsboro, ME Basement from Water Leakage
After having never had problems with a flooding basement in the past, this Gouldsboro, ME homeowner was looking for a way to improve their waterproofing in the space after the space flooded twice in two weeks. They heard about TC Hafford Basement Systems from a family friend and called us right away to see what we could do for them. We set them up with a free estimate where our sales representative was able to explain to the homeowner exactly what their options were. The homeowner quickly decided on what work they wanted done and we got started. As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home, they began by installing a SmartSump pump in the existing drain in the floor of the basement. This sump had been recently overwhelmed by the water levels needing removal from this basement and required an upgrade. The SmartSump will take in the water from the floor and force it out of the home through a PVC discharge line, where it will be deposited onto the ground a safe distance from the home. Next, an UltraSump backup battery was installed near the sump and connected to the SmartSump. The UltraSump will help maintain a dry basement floor by keeping the SmartSump active during any power-outages the homeowner experiences. This new sump system will keep this basement from unexpected flooding in the future. This homeowner can rely on their new SmartSump to maintain their dry basement.
Damp Crawlspace In Prospect Harbor, ME Kept Dry With CleanSpace
A homeowner in Prospect Harbor was worried about how damp their crawlspace was getting. This dampness could easily lead to mold growth, and damage to the property. Seeking a way to keep moisture out of their crawlspace, the homeowner looked online. Here is where they found TC Hafford Basement Systems. The homeowner called us right away and we had our representative give her a free estimate. After she decided on what work she wanted done, our crew got to work! In order to keep out moisture before it reached the interior of the crawlspace, we needed to install a vapor barrier. To do so, we lined the floor/wall joint around the space with a Drainage Matting. This will ideally drain away water trying to find its way to the center of the crawlspace. Next, we encapsulated the space with a CleanSpace Liner. CleanSpace is made of a thin plastic, completely locking out moisture that would have previously entered through the walls or the floor. Finally, we installed a SaniDry CX dehumidifier. The SaniDry will dry out the air within the space, and keep it that way. Without moisture in its environment, mold cannot grow. With this new vapor barrier in place, this homeowner no longer needs to worry about mold or water damage at all!
TripleSafe Upgrade Keeps Prospect Harbor, ME Basement Water-Free
A couple living in Prospect Harbor, ME had noticed the sump in their basement of their new home wasn’t keeping up with the water leaking in. This was causing flooding in their basement, which they needed dealt with right away. After searching online, they soon discovered TC Hafford Basement Systems and called us right away to receive their free estimate. They spoke with our representative and soon hired us to get the job done to better waterproof their home. Upon arriving at the home, our installation began work on the home by installing a TripleSafe sump system in the hole existing in the basement floor already. The TripleSafe, as the name suggests, houses three individual pumps. The first and second pumps act to remove the bulk of the water gathering in the basement, with the secondary only activating if the primary pump is ever overwhelmed. The third pump is operated by a battery and will turn on to remove water during a power-outage. The water flows from the home through a PVC discharge line where it will be released onto the ground a distance from the home. Following this discharge line outside, our crew made two final additions to the line to finish this job. The first being an IceGuard pipe segment attached just beyond where the line exits the side of the home. The IceGuard has built-in holes that are angled upward as to not impede regular water flor. These holes protect the home from blockages like ice, allowing any trapped water to escape through the previously mentioned holes. Finally, a LawnScape discharge port was attached to the end of the line to complete the waterproofing. The end of the LawnScape port is covered by a grate to keep any large debris from entering the end of the line and causing blockages. With these improvements in place, the homeowners can now use the space without the need to worry about water damage. The TripleSafe sump system will keep this basement floor water-free for years to come!
Wet Basement in Presque Isle, ME Dried with WaterGuard Installation
With water regularly entering their basement, a homeowner living in Presque Isle, ME was ready to have something done about it. After hearing about of from a friend, they gave our office a call and set up their basement waterproofing! Once they ecided they wanted to have the work done, our installation crew was dispatched. When they got to the home, our crew started work on thsi basement by excavating a shallow trench into the perimeter of the basement. This is where our WaterGuard piping was then laid, surrounding the basement. Where the piping ran beneath a door leading otuside, a TrenchDrain was used. While the WaterGuard is covered over with a fresh layer of concrete, the TrenchDrain is left at the surface, level with the floor with an upward facing grate leading down into the WaterGuard. Now when water leaks in through the floor of the space, it will become trapped within the WaterGuard and guided through the floor to the sump. With the WaterGuard in place, it was time to upgrade the sump drain. We installed a SuperSump sump pump in the floor of the basement, connected to the WaterGuard. Now any water collected by the pipes will be guided driectly to the sump for removal. The SuperSump can remove over 2,600 gallons of water from the basement every hour. Following the discharge line outside, we made two final additions to the system. First was an IceGuard pipe section to prevent any water from backing up and overflowing the sump if a blockage occurs. Second was a LawnScape cap for the end of the line, to pleasantly incorporate the pipe with the lawn. With these improvements to their home, this homeowner sould no longer suffer from a flooding basement! The WaterGuard piping will keep water from gathering on the floor in the future.
