Living with a regularly damp and rather unpleasant crawlspace below their home, this homeowner began to look into how they could resolve this issue. After consulting our team, they were setup with a full vapor barrier to clear the crawlspace of moisture and keep out future leaks. Now without any moisture to sustain itself, any musty smells due to mold growth will soon dissipate, leaving the homeowner with dry, healthy air in their home.
Wanting to take care of the moisture issue in their Harpswell, ME, crawl space, this homeowner reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems for help. System Design Specialist Todd Bernard met with the homeowner to discuss their goals and put together a system that would give them peace of mind.
Encapsulating the hardly-used crawl space would protect the area and home from outside elements and help keep moisture out of the crawl space, preventing mold and small critters from making it their home. CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was installed with Spray Foam, ensuring the best seal. Finally, a Sump Liner was installed so that, if water ever becomes a problem, a sump pump can be quickly and easily installed without disrupting the CleanSpace.
The homeowner can rest easy knowing their home’s health is protected and their crawl space won’t be a home to any critters that aren’t paying bills.
We helped Harpswell, Maine homeowners encapsulate their damp, musty crawl space. We encapsulated the area with drainage matting and CleanSpace vapor barrier. CleanSpace is an inorganic material that prevents mold growth, while also sealing out any moisture. The homeowners were also interested in spray foam, so we installed Spray Foam insulation on the walls and rim joists. Spray Foam can easily get into the nooks and crannies, so it creates an air tight seal, and provides immediate energy efficiency improvements.
We helped Harpswell, Maine homeowners upgrade their crawl space from a dingy dirt floor area, to a fresh, clean encapsulated crawl space. Our drainage matting and TripleCrawl sump pump system were installed to manage the groundwater. Our SaniDry Sedona high efficiency air system now controls the humidity, as well as filters the air for allergens to keep the air in the home healthy. The CleanSpace vapor barrier seals out moisture and prevents mold growth. We also installed spray foam insulation on the walls to improve the energy efficiency of the home.
Looking to keep humidity out of the crawlspace below their home, this Manchester, ME homeowner called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems. After receiving their free estimate, they hired us to provide a proper vapor barrier within the space. Our installation crew got started by laying a Drainage Matting across the dirt floor of the crawlspace. This layer rests just off the surface of the floor to create small channels that moisture can flow through without becoming trapped. The water will pool up in the natural low point of the space on its own to drain harmlessly back into the ground. Next, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the entire interior of the crawlspace. This waterproof layer finishes the vapor barrier installation, providing the protection against moisture accumulation the homeowner was seeking. Now during harsh rain or melting snow, any leaking moisture will be blocked by the CleanSpace without gathering in the crawlspace and causing humidity problems for the property owner.
With a proper vapor barrier in place, this Manchester, ME homeowner can rest assured their moisture problems are a thing of the past. The Drainage Matting & CleanSpace combination will maintain a dry crawlspace below this home for many years into the future.
