Gray, ME homeowners contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems to help keep their musty crawlspace dry. System Design Specialist Thomas R. met with the homeowners at their lakefront property, a prime location for water issues. To fully encapsulate the crawl space and keep moisture and critters out, CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was installed. Drainage Matting is a durable barrier with dimples to help channel water and elevate the CleanSpace, keeping it clean. CleanSpace is a durable, inorganic vapor barrier that gets attached to the walls and seals up the crawl space, keeping moisture out. A SmartSump was installed to capture water and pump it through the new Exterior Buried Discharge line. The Discharge line takes the water far from the home and with the installation of IceGuard, the entire system is protected against ice buildup in the winter. Not only is the homeowner able to enjoy their home with better air quality and without having to worry about water in their crawl space.
Homeowners in Scarborough, Maine reached out for help with their smelly crawl space. The crawl space was consistently wet, and the odors were coming into the home. We encapsulated the crawl space with drainage matting and CleanSpace vapor barrier. We removed their old fiberglass insulation that was damp and falling down. Spray Foam insulation was installed on the walls to create an air and moisture tight seal, and unlike fiberglass is resistant to mold. Not pictured, we also added a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to control the humidity and filter the air of allergens, removing that musty odor.
A Scarborough, ME homeowner contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems for support with both their basement and their crawlspace. The homeowner wanted to install spray foam insulation, as well as replace their old sump pump, and come up with a solution for the moisture in their crawlspace.
System Design Specialist Michael P. helped assess the basement and the crawlspace to devise the best plan. We installed SprayFoam insulation around the rim joists and top of the walls in both areas, which creates an air and moisture tight seal, as well as insulates the area. We replaced their old sump pump with a new SuperSump systems with UltraSump batter back up. Lastly, we installed CleanSpace with drainage matting in the crawlspace to encapsulate the area and protect it from moisture.
We helped this New Gloucester, Maine crawl space that had cold, sagging floors, and the owners were also concerned about rodents and mold. Moisture had weakened a wooden support beam to the point that the beam was cracking and rotting away. The weakened beam was causing the floors above to sag. To address the moisture, we encapsulated the space with drainage matting and CleanSpace vapor barrier. These products work together to control the groundwater and seal moisture out of the crawl space, keeping the wooden supports protected from rot and mold. The encapsulation also seals off any access points so rodents cannot enter the space. We also installed SmartJacks and a new supplemental beam to keep the home properly supported. SmartJacks are steel posts that are custom fit and can be adjusted to lift and return the floors above to level. They have a zinc coating to prevent the posts from rusting. The homeowners now enjoy level floors, and their crawl space is dry and mold free!
We encapsulated this South Portland, Maine crawl space to help address the humidity and musty smells the owners were experiencing. Crawl spaces with dirt floors are prone to moisture issues, which can cause damage, wood rot, and mold growth. Encapsulating the space seals out the water, keeping the crawl space dry and protected. We install drainage matting on the ground to control the groundwater, with our CleanSpace vapor barrier liner on top. CleanSpace is made of an inorganic material which also prevents mold growth. A SmartSump pump was installed to help pump groundwater away from the home through an exterior buried discharge line. Lastly, a SaniDry Sedona high efficiency air system controls the humidity in the crawl space, while also filtering allergens like mold spores. The SaniDry Sedona helps mitigate musty smells, improving the indoor air quality of the home.
