CleanSpace Liner Keeps Orrs Island, ME Crawlspace Moisture-Free

Living with a regularly damp and rather unpleasant crawlspace below their home, this homeowner began to look into how they could resolve this issue. After consulting our team, they were setup with a full vapor barrier to clear the crawlspace of moisture and keep out future leaks. Now without any moisture to sustain itself, any musty smells due to mold growth will soon dissipate, leaving the homeowner with dry, healthy air in their home.

Crawl Space with Moisture Issues Gets Vapor Barrier in Orrs Island, Maine

We helped improve an Orrs Island, Maine crawl space with our two-step encapsulation system. The crawl space had unsealed stone foundation walls, high moisture levels, and the homeowners wanted to add insulation. We first installed drainage matting on the floor to control groundwater. CleanSpace vapor barrier liner was installed on top of that, providing an encapsulated area that prevents mold growth and seals moisture out. Finally, Spray Foam insulation was installed on the walls and rim joists to add an air tight seal, immediately improving energy efficiency for the home.

Waterproofing Wet Basement in Orrs Island, Maine

Homeowners in Orrs Island, Maine needed help with their wet basement. Part of the basement had dirt floors, and everything was always damp and musty. We poured a new slab floor with WaterGuard perimeter drainage system to control any water seepage. We also installed our TripleSafe sump pump with SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. WaterGuard channels moisture directly to the TripleSafe to be pumped away from the home. Our SaniDry Sedona removes up to 100 pints of water per day from the air, keeping a healthy humidity level to avoid moisture.

New Basement Slab Floor in Orrs Island, Maine

This Orrs Island, ME property functioned as both a home and an auto shop. The dirt floors were causing constant dampness in the space. We poured a new slab floor with WaterGuard perimeter drainage. The WaterGuard system directs all water to their new TripleSafe sump pump (not pictured here). The TripleSafe pumps water away from the property, keeping the basement dry and protected.

Sealing an Attic with Dr. Energy Saver

Without air sealing an attic, hot air is still able to penetrate loose blown-in insulation, leading to higher energy bills and an uncomfortable home. This Topsham, ME, homeowner wanted to become more energy efficient, so they booked a free estimate with Dr. Energy Saver by TC Hafford Basement Systems. System Design Specialist Nima Farshid met with the homeowner and performed a Blower Door Test that showed room for improvement. Nima worked with the homeowner to design a Dr. Energy Saver system that would make their home more comfortable and energy efficient.

First the old insulation was removed, and the attic was air-sealed where needed with ZypFoam. Any areas that could leak air into the home were filled in and around the chimney. Next, TruSoft Cellulose installation was blown in to reinsulate the area. TruSoft Cellulose is an environmentally friendly product made from recycled materials that are treated for fire resistance. Unlike typical fiberglass insulation that will melt when presented with a flame, TruSoft Cellulose insulation will resist the flame and won’t ignite. Now the homeowner not only has a more energy efficient home, but a more comfortable and safer home thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by TC Hafford Basement Systems.
