Leaking Basement In Skowhegan, ME Sealed With FlexiSpan
A homeowner in Skowhegan was noticing pools of water gathering in their basement. The water was entering through a crack in the wall of the basement. This crack had expanded beyond the fixing capabilities of the homeowner, so they searched for a way to have it done professionally. They soon heard about TC Hafford Basement Systems from a family friend, and gave us a call right away! We had a representative inspect the basement to give the homeowner a free estimate of costs for the repair. The homeowner decided on what solution they wanted, and we got to work. We began by filling the crack with an initial layer of sealant. This first layer won’t be enough to completely seal the crack, but it is the first of three layers to form FlexiSpan. Next, we laid a foam matting over the top of the sealant. This foam adds flexibility to the overall structure of the FlexiSpan, giving it its name. We then covered the foam with a second layer of sealant. This final layer will lock out moisture trying to enter through the crack, and finish the FlexiSpan. The FlexiSpan will adhere to the crack, no matter the situation. Even if the wall shifts in any way, the FlexiSpan will shift along with it. Maintaining a dry basement floor for years to come!
WaterGuard Piping Keeps Skowhegan, ME Basement Water-Free
A homeowner in Skowhegan, ME was living with a problem. They had a basement that wouldregularly take on water during rainfall. With the water leaking in directly through their concrete foundation, this homeowner was unsure how to prevent this leakage on their own. Wanting to have something done about it, they searched online for a solution and soon found us at TC Hafford Basement Systems. They called us soon after to set up their free estimate. After hearing what we could do for them, they hired us to get the job done right! Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the basement floor right away. A shallow trench was excavated into the perimeter of the concrete. Next, WaterGuard piping was installed within this trench and buried beneath a fresh layer of concrete. Concealed within the floor, the WaterGuard pipes will pull in any leaking moisture through slits along the pipes. The trapped water inside is then guided through the floor to the sump for removal from the home before it can reach the surface. Within the sump in this basement, a TripleSafe device was installed. The TripleSafe contains three pumps within itself. The first and second pumps will pump out the majority of the water, with the secondary pump acting like a backup for when the primary cannot handle the load. Third, a battery backup pump activates only when the home is without power, keeping the basement dry even in especially heavy storms. The water enering the TripleSafe is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. This line carries the water out and away from the home before it is deposited onto the lawn to drain away into the ground. An IceGuard pipe segment was attached to this discharge line just beyond where it exits the home. The IceGuard will protect against blockages lower in the line, such as ice, that may cause a backup into the basement. A special hole in the side of the IceGuard will allow only trapped water to escape the line. Finally, a LawnScape discharge port was attached to the end of the line. This piece blends exposed end of the line into the lawn with a grated end that allows the water to flow out while preventing debris from entering the pipe. With these improvements to their basement, this homeowner can now utilize their basement without any fear of water damage. The WaterGuard & TripleSafe will ensure this basement remains dry for years to come!
SuperSump Installation Protects Skowhegan, ME Basement from Flooding
When this homeowner living in Skowhegan, ME began to notice water gathering in one corner of their basement, they knew they would need to do something about it before the problem got worse. They called us at TC Hafford shortly after seeing us on their television. Our office staff set them up with a free estimate and our sales rep. soon visited the home to look over the basement. After hearing their options, the homeowner hired us to get the job done as soon as possible! When our installation crew arrived at the home, they got started waterproofing the space by digging out a hole for a sump to be installed. Here, a SuperSump was placed in the floor, where it will collect the water gathering on the floor of the basement and force it out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump can remove over 2.600 gallons of water from the home every hour, which will keep any rainfall at bay. Nearby, an UltraSump backup battery was installed and connected to the SuperSump. This device will power the SuperSump during any outages in the home, charging again when the power returns to the home. The discharge line that carries the water from the home received two additions on the exterior of the home before we were finished with this job. The first was an IceGuard section attached to the line just beyond where it leaves the side of the home. The IceGuard has upward facing holes built-in that protect the basement from blockages in the pipe. Now if ice were to block the discharge line, the trapped water would escape through the sides of the IceGuard without overflowing back onto the basement floor. Finally, a LawnScape discharge port was used to cap the end of the line. This piece covers the end of the line with a grate, blocking most debris from entering the line while allowing the water to continue to flow from the home onto the ground. With a new sump system in their basement, the flooding this homeowner was experiencing will now be a thing of the past. The SuperSump & UltraSump combination will be more than enough to keep back any leaking moisture in the future!
The Problem of Not Having Gutters
Without gutters on your home, a mix of problems can arise that could eventually lead to costly damage, resulting in an unhealthy home. Water running off of your home's roof can lead to soil erosion, foundation damage, and eventually basement flooding, resulting in mold growth and damaged property. Clogged gutters can lead to even more damage, including water damage on your ceilings and walls. Knowing these issues and wanting to avoid any damage to their home, this Skowhegan, ME, homeowner called Gutter Shutter by TC Hafford Basement Systems for help.   System Design Specialist Josh Hamel met with the homeowner and worked with them to design a Gutter Shutter system that would provide protection and keep them safe, as they would never have to worry about cleaning any clogs. Gutter Shutter's unique design allows debris such as pine needles and leaves to slide off, only letting water into the system. The larger 6-inch gutter allows for more water to flow, and the tough shutter keeps the gutter safe from ice damage during the harsh Maine winter months. Gutter Shutter is available in multiple colors, giving the homeowner many options to choose from, whether they wish to pick gutters that blend into their home or use them as an accent that matches their window shutters.   The home is now protected, and the homeowner can rest easy knowing their home is safe from water damage and that they won’t have to climb a ladder to clean any clogs.
TripleSafe Sump Upgrade Protects Wiscasset, ME Basement from Water Damage
A homeowner from Wiscasset, ME had been living with a wet basement for some time. Wanting to use the space, they needed a way to keep the basement dry. The homeowner searched online for a solution and soon found us at TC Hafford Basement Systems. They called us for their free estimate and we dispatched our crew to get the job done! Once our installation crew got to the home, they began by installing a TripleSafe sump pump in the floor of the basement. This device houses three pumps within itself. The first and second pumps handle the majority of the water needing to be removed. The third pump is a battery backup pump, which will switch on in the event of a power-outage. A SaniDry XP dehumidifier was also installed nearby. The SaniDry will pull in the damp air from around the basement, separating the moisture from it. The dried air is circulated back into the basement while the collected water is passed to the TripleSafe for removal. The water exits the basement through a PVC discharge line, where it travels up and out of the home. Just outside, an IceGuard pipe segment is attached to the line, to protects against ice blocking the line. If a blockage occurs, the water can escape through the angled holes in the IceGuard before backing up and flooding the basement. Lastly, a LawnScape pipe cap was added to the end of the line to allow the water to exit and drain onto the ground. With their new sump system in place, this homeowner should now be able to utilize the sapce in their basement without fearing water damage! The TripleSafe sump pump and SaniDry dehumidifier will make sure of that.
FlexiSpan Properly Seals Leaking Vassalboro, ME Basement
With a crack in their basement wall, this Vassalboro, ME homeowner was unsure how to prevent water from leaking through the crack. Without a way to seal it themselves, they soon heard about TC Hafford Basement Systems from a family member and called us right away. After receiving their free estimate, they decided to have us take care of the problem crack. Once our installation crew arrived at the home they began the three-step process of sealing the crack with FlexiSpan. To start, the crack was brushed clear of any debris with a coarse brush, then the first layer of sealant was applied within the crack. A foam pad is then laid over the top of the sealant. This gives the FlexiSpan the flexibility to conform to slight changes in the cracks shape. Finally, the foam is covered with a second layer of sealant, completing the FlexiSpan seal. This will keep water from leaking through the crack in the future. Now that the crack has been sealed, no more water will leak into this homeowners basement. The FlexiSpan will make sure of that!
Wet Basement In Southport, ME Waterproofed With SuperSump
A homeowner in Southport was having mold problem in their basement. This was caused by a moisture build up in the air, and required professional work done. They saw an ad one their television for TC Hafford Basement Systems and contacted us right after. We had a representative sent to the house to give a free estimate, then we were able to start working! We started by installing a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will take water from the basement, and push it up and out of the home. Then we attached an UltraSump backup battery to the SuperSump to maintain water evacuation even when the power is out. Next, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier, which will maintain a dry atmosphere within the basement, and destroy the chance for any mold to find a place to live. Finally, we attached an IceGuard filter on the exterior of the home to the discharge line. This will ensure the water exits the basement even if the lower end of the discharge line becomes blocked by ice or other debris. Now this homeowner is worry free with a dry basement!
Crawl Space Encapsulation in Southport, ME
A homeowner in Southport, Maine, reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems with concerns about their crawl space. The crawl space had a dirt floor, and they were looking for a permanent solution to keep moisture and dampness out of their home. Understanding the potential risks of an unprotected crawl space, such as mold growth and poor air quality, they wanted to fully encapsulate the area to protect their home’s structural integrity.   After a thorough assessment, our team determined that the best course of action was to install a CleanSpace liner along with drainage matting. This combination would prevent moisture from entering the crawl space while allowing any water to flow to a designated drainage system. We also installed a SmartDrain to provide an additional layer of protection, ensuring any water that might collect would be directed safely away from the crawl space.     By encapsulating the crawl space, the homeowner can now enjoy a drier, healthier environment beneath their home. They were very satisfied with the results, knowing their crawl space is now fully protected from the elements.
Damp Crawl Space Causing Problems in Southport, ME
This Southport, ME, crawl space was open to the elements and stayed damp, causing issues and leading to problems such as mold. The homeowner needed help, so they called TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate, and System Design Specialist Kathryn Dolan met with the homeowner. Together, Kathryn and the homeowner designed a crawl space encapsulation system that would protect the home and prevent water from being an issue in the future. Ground water was an issue for this crawl space, so a TripleCrawl Sump Pump system was installed to handle the water and pump it out of the home through the new Exterior Buried Discharge line. The Discharge line takes the water far away from the home and is protected against ice buildup with IceGuard. Mold has been an issue, so taking care of the moisture problem in the crawl space was the next step. CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was installed to encapsulate the area and keep moisture out. Drainage Matting is constructed with a dimpled design that channels water to the TripleCrawl and elevates the CleanSpace to keep it clean and protect it. CleanSpace is a durable, inorganic vapor barrier that was attached to the walls, sealing the area and brightening the space, making it perfect for storage. SmartDrain and Perforated Pipe were installed to channel water to the TripleCrawl Sump Pump. To finish encapsulating the crawl space and protect the home, SprayFoam was installed to insulate the area, and a SaniDry Sedona was installed to keep the humidity at a safe level. The SaniDry Sedona is connected to a Condensate Pump and drains to the TripleCrawl so the homeowner never has to be worried about emptying a bucket of water, and the system will continue to run without needing to be supervised or checked up on. The homeowner is now able to regain control over their home and can live in the space without the concern of the mold or moisture effecting the health of their family.
