WaterGuard Installation Protects Hallowell, ME Basement
Even with a concrete foundation beneath their home, a hoemowner living in Hallowell, ME was still experiencing flooding in their basement during heavy rainfall. The dampness was a major problem for the homeowner and they soon heard about TC Hafford Basement Systems from a local contracor. Once they learned we could solve their basement troubles, they called us right away and we got to work! As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home they we able to begin work on the basement. With water entering directly through the concrete, a system needed to prevent this from happening. They began by excavating a shallow trench into the perimeter of the floor. Inside, WaterGuard piping was laid and covered with a fresh coat of concrete. These pipes will intercept and trap any moisture leaking in through the concrete in the future. This water then travels through the pipes to the sump where we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This device will force the collected water up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump us able to remove up to 2,650 gallons of water from the home every hour. With their WaterGuard piping and SuperSump pump working together, this homeowner will no longer suffer from a flooding basement during any rainfall.
Caving Basement Wall In Smithfield, ME Fortified With PowerBrace
A couple in Smithfield had a problem in their basement. One of the walls looked like it was about to cave in! Over the years, the pressure from the surrounding soil had forced the wall inward, to the point where it was visibly bowing. Requiring a solution to this problem, the homeowners searched online and found TC Hafford Basement Systems. We had our representative look at the basement, and offer a free estimate. After the homeowners made their decision, our crew got to work! In order to put the wall back to its original position, we needed to use PowerBrace technology. To install the PowerBraces, we secured steel I-beams to the wall by anchoring the bottom to the concrete floor. The tops of the beams are secured to the wooden joists in the ceiling of the basement. These are held with special, adjustable screws, allowing for the PowerBrace to be tightened at a later date once the wall has begun to move back into place. With the PowerBraces in place, not only will this wall no longer be in danger of collapse, but the wall will eventually return to near new condition!
Oakland, ME, Homeowner Waterproofs Finished Basement
A finished basement in Oakland was having water seep in through the corners. This was worrying the homeowner, and shortly after hearing about TC Hafford through a friend, they decided to give us a call. After receiving a free estimate, the homeowner decided to move forward and get their basement waterproofed. We started this job by digging up the perimeter of the basement. This opened up a space to put in our WaterGuard system, which catches the water before it reaches the interior of the basement. After getting the WaterGuard pipes in place, concrete is then poured over them to seal them in place. These pipes lead to a newly installed SuperSump sump pump, which then pumps any water out of the basement. Finally we attached an IceGuard on the outside of the house. This allows water to flow from the house even if the lower end of the discharge pipe is blocked by debris or ice. Now this homeowner never needs to worry about their basement getting wet in the future.
Heavy Rains Causing Problems for Oakland, ME Homeowner
This Oakland, ME, homeowner has been dealing with issues during rain events where their sump wouldn’t work, leaving up to three inches of water in the basement that they use for storage. The homeowner didn’t want to risk their belongings being damaged, so they called TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. The old sump was no longer doing the job, so it was removed and replaced with a brand new SuperSump Plus system. The SuperSump Plus pumps the water through an Exterior Buried Discharge line that takes it far from the home. The Discharge line is protected against ice buildup during the winter months with the installation of IceGuard. Water was leaking in around the perimeter of the basement, so WaterGuard was installed to catch the water and channel it to the SuperSump. Now that the basement is waterproofed, the homeowner can use the space for storage without the worry of their belongings being damaged or costly repairs.
Wet Crawlspace In Phippsburg, ME Sealed With CleanSpace
Chris from Phippsburg had a crawlspace that would regularly leak water during heavy rains. This could lead to damage to the property, or mold growth within the crawlspace. To prevent this, Chris got online and searched for a way to receive a proper vapor barrier. He soon came across TC Hafford Basement Systems, and called us to receive his free estimate. We then dispatched our crew and got to work! The crawlspace was first given a drain system. We installed a SmartDrain in the space where most of the water would usually gather. We then lined the crawlspace with a Drainage Matting along the floor/wall joint. This mat will hold back water as it tries to enter and allow it to drain back out through ground, or through the SmartDrain. Next, we encapsulated the crawlspace with a CleanSpace Liner. This liner is made of a thin plastic, and completely locks out any moisture trying to enter the interior. The water will then be forced to drain back into the surrounding soil. Finally, we installed a SaniDry CX dehumidifier to handle the humidity in the crawlspace. Keeping the moisture both off of the floor, and out of the air, we eliminate the problem of water damage and mold build up entirely. Chris now longer needs to worry about heavy rain, and can rest assured his crawlspace will remain dry!
Gutter Shutter Installation in Phippsburg, Maine
A homeowner in Phippsburg, Maine, reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems for help with managing rainwater around their home. With no gutter system in place, they were concerned about water pooling near their foundation and wanted a reliable solution. After assessing the property, we recommended our Gutter Shutter system for its strength, durability, and ability to keep gutters clear of debris.   The Gutter Shutter system is designed to handle large volumes of rainwater while preventing clogs from leaves, branches, and other debris. Its seamless construction and heavy-duty materials mean the system remains securely fastened, eliminating the risk of sagging or detachment. This ensures that rainwater is efficiently redirected away from the foundation, reducing the risk of erosion and potential water damage.     Upon completion, the homeowner expressed how reassured they felt with this new addition. They were impressed with the clean, seamless look of the installation and confident in its ability to protect their home for years to come. Humid Crawl Space Led to Mold
This Phippsburg, ME, home had issues with high humidity and moisture leading to mold and causing issues for the homeowner who had to hire a mold remediation company to help. Wanting to prevent further damage and protect the health of their home and family, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. System Design Specialist Michael Penna met with the homeowner and worked with them to design an encapsulation system that would keep moisture out of the crawl space. The area was prepped for encapsulation by regrading the area and laying down Drainage Matting. Drainage Matting features large dimples that channel water to the sump and create a barrier to protect CleanSpace once it is installed. CleanSpace is a durable, inorganic vapor barrier that is laid on the floor and attached to the walls to seal the crawl space and keep moisture and critters out. A SmartSump was installed to capture groundwater and pump it out of the crawl space through the new Exterior Buried Discharge line. The Discharge line takes the water far from the home and protects the system against ice buildup with the installation of IceGuard. SprayFoam was installed along the rim joists, and the system was finished after a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was installed. The SaniDry Sedona keeps the humidity in the crawl space at a safe level and drains directly to the SmartSump, so the homeowner never has to worry about emptying a bucket of water to keep it running. Now the homeowner is able to use their crawl space for storage, and they no longer have to worry about mold in their crawl space causing issues in there home.
