Waterproofing a Topsham, Maine Basement
Homeowners in Topsham, Maine wanted to finish their basement, but before investing in the renovations they wanted to know their basement was waterproof and protected. We installed WaterGuard and TrenchDrain, which work together to create a perimeter drainage system around the basement. TrenchDrain is used in high traffic areas, and near items that are more likely to experience condensation, like oil tanks. The perimeter drainage is connected directly to their new SuperSump pump to pump the water away from the home. Our SuperSump pump system can remove over 2,000 gallons of water per hour, keeping the basement dry.
Flooding Basement In Topsham, ME Drained With TripleSafe
A homeowner in Topsham with sump trouble was looking for a way to properly waterproof their basement. Their previously installed sump pump just wasn’t able to keep up with all the water in the basement, and would back-up, flooding the basement. The homeowner was soon told about TC Hafford Basement Systems from a friend, and they called us shortly after. We arranged for our representative to meet with the homeowner and give them their free estimate. After going over their options, the homeowner selected what work they wanted done and we got started! We began by removing the old sump pump from the basement. This was disposed of properly, and we started on the waterproofing. We installed a TripleSafe sump pump in the sump of the basement. The TripleSafe is composed of three separate pumps. The primary pump handles the bulk of the water entering it. The secondary pump handles the water in the event of the primary pump failing to handle the water. The third pump is a battery backup pump, used only if the power to the home goes out. Maintaining a water free environment, in any weather. The water is channeled out of the home through a PVC discharge line. On the exterior of the home, we attached an IceGuard piece to the discharge line. This specially designed pipe will keep water flowing from the basement even if the lower end becomes blocked by any kind of debris. These newly installed systems will maintain a dry, healthy atmosphere within the basement for years to come This homeowner now has a completely waterproofed basement.
Sealing an Attic with Dr. Energy Saver
Without air sealing an attic, hot air is still able to penetrate loose blown-in insulation, leading to higher energy bills and an uncomfortable home. This Topsham, ME, homeowner wanted to become more energy efficient, so they booked a free estimate with Dr. Energy Saver by TC Hafford Basement Systems. System Design Specialist Nima Farshid met with the homeowner and performed a Blower Door Test that showed room for improvement. Nima worked with the homeowner to design a Dr. Energy Saver system that would make their home more comfortable and energy efficient.   First the old insulation was removed, and the attic was air-sealed where needed with ZypFoam. Any areas that could leak air into the home were filled in and around the chimney. Next, TruSoft Cellulose installation was blown in to reinsulate the area. TruSoft Cellulose is an environmentally friendly product made from recycled materials that are treated for fire resistance. Unlike typical fiberglass insulation that will melt when presented with a flame, TruSoft Cellulose insulation will resist the flame and won’t ignite. Now the homeowner not only has a more energy efficient home, but a more comfortable and safer home thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by TC Hafford Basement Systems.

Homeowners Happy in Harpswell, ME

What to do When You Have a Basement and Crawl Space
This Harpswell, ME, homeowner recently purchased a new home and immediately had issues with water coming into their basement and crawl space area. Uncertain of how it comes in but appearing often, the homeowner wants to address the issue before it becomes a bigger problem or affects the health of their home. Looking for help, the homeowner reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems to schedule a free estimate. System Design Specialist Michael Madore met with the homeowner and worked with them to design a waterproofing system specific to their unique situation.   To address the crawl space portion of the area, CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was laid down to create an inorganic barrier between the crawl space and the outside elements. CleanSpace not only brightens the area but also aids in keeping critters and moisture out. Drainage Matting creates a barrier gap and allows water to be channeled to the new SuperSump Sump Pump. The SuperSump will push all water out of the area, and because of the CleanSpace and Drainage Matting’s tough design, the crawl space is the perfect storage area for the homeowner.   The basement portion of the space needed to be addressed, and so WaterGuard Perimeter Drain was installed where needed and connected to another SuperSump Sump Pump. The WaterGuard captures and channels water to the SuperSump, which takes the water and pumps it out of the space through a Buried Discharge Line. The Discharge Line takes the water away from the home. The homeowner can now live in their home knowing that their basement and crawl space will no longer be an area of trouble.

Humid Basement In Litchfield, ME Aired Out Properly
A homeowner in Litchfield had a very humid basement. This humidity could easily lead to the growth of mold. If left alone, this mold could then eventually lower the structural integrity of the house supports. The homeowner took to the internet to find the solution and came across TC Hafford Basement Systems. After contacting us for an estimate, we had a representative out to take a look and give potential solutions. Soon after this we got to work installing a SaniDry XP Dehumidifier. This not only dehumidifies the air, it also circulates it around the entire basement. This ensures the dry air reaches out into the other sections of a basement, and not just the local area of installation.
SmartJacks Add Support to Litchfield, Maine Lakehouse

CleanSpace Encapsulation Keeps Litchfield, ME Crawlspace Moisture-Free
A homeowner living in Litchfield, ME was in the market for some crawlspace waterproofing. While not being immediately a problem, the damp crawlspace beneath their home was still unpleasant due to the musty smell that came from the space. When the homeowner saw an ad on their television for TC Hafford Basement Systems they called us right away to find out if we could solve their crawlspace problem. They received their free estimate and hired us to get the job done! When our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work right away laying a Drainage Matting across the floor of the crawlspace. This mat sits just above the floor and has many perforations to allow for water bloced by the vapor barrier to drain away back into the ground. Over the top of this, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the crawlspace. This completed the installation of the vapor barrier and will lock out any future leakages. Now any water entering the space will be trapped between the CleanSpace and the ground, where it will soon drain away. Now the interior of this cralwpsace will stay dry during rainfall. This homeowner will no longer need to suffer from the musty smell coming from below their home.
