Basement Waterproofing Before & After Photos

Concerned about mold growth and the resale value of their home, this Bridgton, Maine, homeowner wanted to get ahead of any problems caused by water and called TC Hafford Basement Systems for help. System Design Specialist Sam Crowley met with the homeowner and discussed their concerns, with the goal of creating a waterproofing system specifically designed for this home. WaterGuard Perimeter Drain was installed around the basement, with TrenchDrain connected to the TripleSafe Sump Pump system. The TripleSafe Sump will pump the water through an Exterior Discharge line that will take the water far from the home, where it can't be a problem.

During springtime, the Bridgton, ME home had a tendency to welcome in water, and the homeowner was ready to tackle the problem, so they reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems for help. Together, they designed a system specific to this basement that would take care of any water issue and protect the health of the home.

A WaterGuard Perimeter Drain was installed in front of the problem areas and connected to a TripleSafe Sump Pump, which will channel and push water out of the basement and into an Exterior Discharge Line. To prevent ice buildup and ensure the system works year-round, IceGuard is connected. Finally, a SmartJack was installed to stabilize the floor above, completing the system and protecting the home.

This Waterboro, ME, homeowner had been dealing with water coming up through their old slab, leaving puddles and ruining their belongings. The homeowner had no intuition of moving to a new home and wanted to keep their forever home in a safe condition. Prepping The Area

The first step in prepping the area for the new slab includes laying down Drainage Matting to create an inorganic barrier for the new slab to be poured on and protected. WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter where needed to capture and channel ground water to the new TripleSafe Sump Pump. The TripleSafe features two Zoeller sumps and a battery-powered backup sump that protects the homeowner during a heavy rain event and power outage. The TripleSafe drains through an Exterior Buried Discharge line that takes the water away from the home. Maine gets cold in the winter, making it important to build a system that will work year-round, so IceGuard was installed on the Discharge line to prevent ice from building up and causing issues.

The New Slab

Now that the area was fully prepped, the brand new slab was poured. The homeowner is now able to use their basement as they want to, without the worry of water damaging their belongings or appliances. The new slab is crack-free, and the basement can be finished if the homeowner decides to.

With moisture easily able to enter this property owner’s basement, they were unable to make much use of the space. Liking what we could offer, they gave our crew the go-ahead to begin work on excavating the old, leaking slab with a fresh slab of concrete. This new slab, however, was fitted with WaterGuard piping around the outer edge, buried just below the surface. These pipes will capture any leaking moisture in the future and guide it directly to the nearby TripleSafe sump pump. Finally, a CleanSpace wall system was put in around the exterior of the basement, to seal any moisture that might enter through the walls and brighten up the interior of the space.
