A 20 Year Old Problem Gone

Already having to spend money on mold remediation and with a 20-year water problem, this Exeter, NH, homeowner was ready to take action and fix the issue plaguing their basement. They called TC Hafford Basement Systems for help, and System Design Specialist Brian Donnelly drove out to meet with the homeowner for a free estimate.

With water coming into their basement, WaterGuard was placed on the perimeter where necessary and connected to a TripleSafe Sump Pump. WaterGuard will catch and channel the water to the TripleSafe, where the water will be pushed out through an Exterior Buried Discharge Line. Water is forced out of the basement, keeping the space dry and preventing mold due to high moisture. IceGuard was installed on the discharge line to prevent ice buildup. During the winter months, the efficiency of the system won’t be affected, keeping the system running at full capacity all year round.

The home is now protected from water intrusion, and the homeowner no longer has to worry about their belongings being damaged by mold or water.

Renovating Your Crawl Space

This Lovell, ME, homeowner is in the process of renovating their home, and to complete the renovation, they need to tackle their crawl space. Mold, rodents, and critters were a nuisance, and ready to take care of the issue and get rid of their unwanted guests, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems. System Design Specialist Sam Crowley met with the homeowner and worked with them to design a system for their crawl space that would protect the health of the home and keep strange critters out.

To encapsulate the crawl space, CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was laid down to create an inorganic barrier to keep the elements out. Spray foam is installed around the rim joist and walls to insulate and seal up the crawl space. Even though water is currently not an issue, the homeowner opted to install a Sump Liner. This allows for a quick and easy sump pump installation in case it is needed in the future. Finally, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed with a Condensate Pump so humidity is kept at a safe level, without the need to ever dump a bucket of water.

The crawl space is now encapsulated and protected from outside elements, and the homeowner can move on to the next step of their home renovation.

Strong Musty Smells in This Acton, ME Crawl Space

This Acton, ME crawl space was the local hangout for critters and rodents who were looking for a warm, damp place to spend their time. Tired of the high moisture in their crawl space and dealing with mold and the musty smell permeating into their home, the homeowner scheduled a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems. System Design Specialist Rick Russell met with the homeowner and worked with them to design a crawl space encapsulation system that would solve their issues.

The first step of encapsulating a crawl space is creating an inorganic barrier between the outside elements and the crawl space. CleanSpace with Drainage Matting is laid down and attached to the walls. Drainage Matting creates space between the earth and CleanSpace, allowing water to be channeled safely. A TripleSafe Sump Pump was installed to take the groundwater and any water channeled to the TripleSafe from the installed SmartDrain. The TripleSafe will push all water out of the space and outside, away from the home, through the new Buried Discharge Line. To finish off the encapsulation system, CleanSpace vent covers were installed to close off the foundation vents, keeping moisture out of the crawl space and the humidity at a safer level. Now critters and rodents don’t have a way into the crawl space, and moisture is kept out. The homeowner no longer has to deal with musty odors and can use their crawl space for storage.

Durham, NH Basement Waterproofed Properly with WaterGuard Piping

Typically using their basement for basic storage, this Durham, NH homeowner needed a way to protect their basement from leaking moisture. After living with a damp basement floor for some time, they called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems to take care of this problem as quickly as possible. Our crew got to work burying WaterGuard piping around the perimeter of the concrete basement floor. These pipes, below a fresh layer of concrete, will act to pull in any leaking moisture traveling through the foundation. This water is then guided through the piping to the nearby SuperSump pump our crew installed. Here the water will be forced out of the home through a discharge line. The discharge line leaving the home is fitted with an IceGuard section that will protect the basement from any blocked water that may flow back up the line.

With their newly waterproofed basement, this homeowner can now safely use the space for storage without fearing moisture causing damage to their property.

Home Plagued by a Wet Basement and Sagging Floors

This West Newfield, ME, homeowner had been dealing with issues in their home ranging from a wet basement with a bad slab to sagging floors leading that were only getting worse. The homeowner wanted to keep their basement dry all the time and improve the air quality of their home. Ready to take back control of their home and protect it from any further damage, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems and booked a free estimate. System Design Specialist Rick Russell worked with the homeowner to design a waterproofing and stabilizing system that would protect home and keep the family healthy.

Stabilizing the Home

The home needed to be stabilized to keep the home secure and stop the first floor from being bouncy when someone walks around. SmartJacks were installed with a new Supplemental Beam to stabilize the floor above. SmartJacks can be adjusted over time to continuously meet the needs of the home and are made of durable steel that is resistant to rust. One of the foundation walls was shifting, so StableLock Wall System was installed to prevent the foundation from further movement. StableLock allows the homeowner to have the benefits of a new foundation wall without the need to lift the home thanks to modern concrete forming techniques.

Waterproofing the Basement and Pouring the Slab

The waterproofing system began with Drainage Matting being laid down to create an inorganic barrier for the new slab to be installed on and channel water with it’s dimpled design. WaterGuard was then installed around the perimeter to collect and channel water to the new TripleSafe Sump Pump System. The TripleSafe features two Zoeller sumps with a battery-powered backup pump that will protect the homeowner from flooding during a storm with a power outage. Water from the TripleSafe is pushed through an Exterior Buried Discharge line that takes the water far away from the home. The waterproofing system is protected against freezing during the winter months with the installation of IceGuard on the Discharge line. Once the waterproofing system was finished, the new slab was poured and smoothed. Now the homeowner has the basement of their dreams, a more stable home, and they never had to leave the comfort of their home.
