Bangor, ME homeowners contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems for help with their wet basement. They found their water issues were continuing to get worse and worse over time and wanted to put an end to dealing with frustrating water clean up. We installed WaterGuard around the perimeter of the basement, a drainage system that channels water directly to the brand new TripleSafe sump pump. The TripleSafe system features two Zoeller pumps and a battery back up to protect against power loss. Water is removed away from the home through the TripleSafe and out an exterior buried discharge line. The discharge line is equipped with IceGuard to prevent freezing and back up in the winter months.
This Castine, ME home was recently purchased, and the new homeowners wanted to address the laundry list of issues that reside in the basement. Water damage can be found throughout the basement, and with a goal of remodeling the home, the new homeowner knew it was important to nip these issues in the bud.
System Design Specialist Mark Smith drove out to meet the homeowner with the goal of designing a system that would fix the issues created by water intrusion and protect the health of the home. With water coming into the basement through the walls and floor, the best course of action was to install WaterGuard Perimeter Drain.
First, Drainage Matting is laid down because a new slab is going to be poured. Drainage Matting creates an inorganic barrier to protect the slab. WaterGuard Perimeter Drain is placed down and connected to a TripleSafe Sump Pump system. SmartJacks were installed to replace 5 rusted out lally columns to ensure the structural integrity of the home and keep the homeowners safe. The new slab is poured, and a SaniDry Sedona is installed in the basement to maintain optimal humidity levels in the basement. CleanSpace Wall System is installed, and now the homeowner can remodel their home knowing their basement is protected and their home is healthy.
This Castine, ME, homeowner recently moved into their new home with the plan to retire there and enjoy their free time. Immediately the homeowner noticed the humidity was higher than it should be in the crawl space. Concerned about mold growth and rot and not wanting the issue to get worse, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. System Design Specialist Craig Ziegenbein worked with the homeowner, and together they designed an encapsulation system that would protect the home against moisture and humidity.
This home was originally built in 1847 and has held up very well through the years but needed some help to be better than it ever has. To encapsulate the area and keep moisture and critters out, CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was installed. Drainage Matting goes down first and covers the floor of the crawl space. Drainage Matting is a durable plastic mat with large dimples that elevates the CleanSpace once installed and helps to channel water to the low spot where a sump can be installed if needed. CleanSpace is a durable, inorganic vapor barrier that is attached to the walls with SprayFoam and keeps moisture and small critters out of the crawl space. Keeping moisture out and encapsulating the area prevents humidity from causing issues for the homeowner, such as mold growth and wood rot. A Sump Liner was installed in the low spot; that way, a sump pump can be easily installed in the future if the homeowner needs it without having to disrupt the encapsulation system. The homeowner is now protected against mold and can use their crawl space for a storage area without the concern of their belongings being damaged.
A Harborside, ME homeowner was experiencing heavy water coming in through their basement walls and floor. The original floor was cracked and leaking, so we poured a brand new slab floor complete with WaterGuard, a perimeter drainage system. WaterGuard channels any moisture to the new TripleSafe sump pump, which then carries the water away from the home through an exterior buried discharge line. The basement is now protected from water damage so the homeowner can use their space with confidence.
With a relatively old sump pump in their basement, this Old Town, ME homeowner had begun to notice their basement would retain some water after rainfall. Looking to remedy this problem, the homeowner hired us at TC Hafford Basement Systems. As soon as our crew was able to get out to the home, they began work on the basement foundation by installing a WaterGuard piping system around the majority of the perimeter of the space. These pipes lay beneath the surface of the floor where they trap incoming water and guide it to the TripleSafe pump installed in the existing sump. The TripleSafe will force any collected water out of the home through a PVC discharge line protected by both an IceGuard and LawnScape segments. With both the WaterGuard system as well as a TripleSafe pump, this basement will now be protected against moisture build up without the water ever reaching the surface of the floor and remain protected even during power outages.
Now that their basement is properly waterproofed, this homeowner can utilize the space without fearing water damaging their property. The WaterGuard piping will keep this basement floor dry for years into the future.
