New Homeowners Faced with Water in Their Basement

Shortly after moving into their dream home, this Augusta, ME, homeowner was faced with a problem: their basement would get wet when it rained. Wanting to use their basement for storage without the risk of having their belongings damaged, the homeowner reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate to waterproof their basement. System Design Specialist Ken Castillo met with the homeowner, and together they worked on designing a system that would keep their basement dry and their home healthy.

WaterGuard Perimeter drain was installed along the basement walls where necessary to capture groundwater. WaterGuard then channels the water to the new TripleSafe Sump Pump. In high-traffic areas, TrenchDrain was installed to capture the most amount of water possible. TrenchDrain features a grated cover that can be removed to clear the system and still capture surface water in front of stairs, doorways, and more. The TripleSafe Sump Pump has the power to pump 2,220 gallons of water an hour out of the main pump alone. Water is pumped out through a Buried Discharge Line that takes the water away from the home, where it can’t cause any more issues. IceGuard was installed at the base of the discharge line to prevent ice buildup, keeping the system running at 100% all year round. Now the home is safe from water, and the basement can be used for storage without worry.

Water Intrusion in Augusta, ME Basement

Augusta, ME homeowner contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems to help address their basement water issues. Water was seeping in where the walls meet the floor, causing frustration for the homeowner. System Design Specialist Jordan T. met with the owner to evaluate the basement's needs.

A SuperSump Plus system was installed to remove any water from the basement through a buried exterior discharge line. WaterGuard and TrenchDrain were installed along the perimeter of the basement to catch the water coming in at the base of the walls and channel it to the SuperSump Plus. BrightWall panels were installed on every wall to cover the cold concrete walls and add a layer of moisture protection. BrightWall freshens up the space, is durable, easy to clean, and never discolors.

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Augusta, Maine

An Augusta, Maine crawl space was experiencing moisture problems, which made the homeowners worry about the integrity of the supports for their home, as well as their air quality. We removed the old fiberglass insulation and other debris, and regraded the area. Then we installed our two-step encapsulation process, including drainage matting and CleanSpace vapor barrier liner. Drainage matting channels the groundwater, and the CleanSpace liner is installed on top of the drainage matting and on all of the walls to create a sealed up space. CleanSpace prevents mold growth in addition to keeping water out. Spray Foam insulation was installed on the walls and rim joists to provide energy efficiency improvements, as well as an added moisture seal.

Foundation Wall Repair to 1850's Home in Augusta, Maine

We provided a free estimate to homeowners in Augusta, Maine that lived in a house built in the 1850's and had noticed shifting foundation walls. The owners were very concerned about the walls potentially collapsing and wanted to get it repaired ASAP. We installed StableLock Walls in two places where they had failing walls. StableLock Wall is a new concrete wall with patented bracing that keeps the home stable. We install the new StableLock Wall directly next to the failing wall, preventing further shifting or collapse. We can install StableLock without any major excavation or needing to lift the home, so it is a less costly option than traditional methods.
